“Delightful Holiday Accommodation”
Reviewed April 19, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We really enjoyed our stay in Dickman Cottage. We were a party of four adults and a baby and we found the cottage and facilities fully met our needs. The cottage was always warm and comfortable and had everything we might need. I would highly recommend this property and would certainly book again the next time we return to the area.

“Relaxing base to explore the area”
Reviewed September 2, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

A cosy cottage, which is very well equipped. We were very comfortable and found it a good base to explore locally. We stayed here with our friends and found it very nice. The village is quiet, but there are local pubs which serve food to walk to, and the cottage has a lovely garden which we were able to sit out in, as we enjoyed some sunshine too. A lovely area to explore.

We visited(family of four) plus a dog- for three nights to visit friends and family. The cottage is ideal with the pub in walking distance. The cottage is comfortable and had everything you need.
On arrival the cottage was freezing! It did warm up pretty quickly but not a great welcome after 6 hour drive from Scotland. I would also say that the towels (just 4 so 1 each) were really small and were of the sort that don't dry you. I would bring my own towels if I stayed again. I would definitely recommend the cottage - good value.

Thank you for your review and for staying at our property. We are sorry you found the cottage cold on your arrival. The default setting for the gas central heating is timed (morning and evening) so the heating may not have been on when you arrived. However, the initial instructions issued to guests do tell you how to switch the heating on and it is so efficient that the property is invariably warm in 10 minutes (maximum). We are sorry you did not like the towels. They are good quality towels from John Lewis and we consider them to be "normal" size. We regret that these issues detracted from your enjoyment of our property on this occasion. RMS

“Top Notch”
Reviewed February 22, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Warm and comfortable, easy services ie broadband, and tv, nicely furnished and well equipped. Stairs very steep, and duck when entering the kitchen - all part of the charm.
We thoroughly enjoyed Dickman's Cottage and it was especially interesting to read of part of the history provided.

“Ideal for 2 people”

We shared the cottage with 2 friends for 3 nights whilst supporting The Outlaw competition. Originally our friend was going to share with one of the other competitors but he unfortunately had to drop out so we stepped in. The cottage is ideal for a couple but a bit of a squeeze for 4 adults. Having said that we managed fairly well as we were out most of the time. The main problem is having only one toilet which is in the bathroom and having shifts for showers etc.

The cottage is immaculately clean and has everything you could need. We brought certain items with us such as toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets, tea and coffee but there were ample stocks of all. The bedding was clean and fresh and a good supply of towels and a heated towel rail in the bathroom keeps them dry and warm.

The stairs are very steep so the cottage would not be good if you had a disability and if you are tall, watch your head as there are low beams and ceilings which my husband found out several times!

It rained most of the time we were here (typical English July!) but the cottage was warm and cosy inside. The Lambley pub is a 2 minute walk from the cottage and we ate here for 2 nights and can highly recommend it, the food was delicious. The Woodcutter Arms had a very limited menu so we did not eat there but The Four Bells at Woodborough was a 5 minute drive and was also excellent.
