Owner description: Welcome to the Trent Navigation on Meadow Lane. This outstanding Victorian pub once fed, watered and housed the men and horses working the Nottingham Canal and throughout the years has at times been much loved or closed and neglected. It has now part of the Great Northern Inns group joining The Cross Keys, The Approach, The Southbank, Copper and The Ned Ludd in providing fine food and drink with live music and sport to all. We stock 13 cask ales including our own Navigation Ales and serve a British based menu served every day. Music is free 3 Nights a week with an eclectic policy incorporating blues, folk, Irish, rock, indie, ska and much more. Live sport is shown in HD on four 42" screens.

Visited this establishment as part of a Stag-itinerary, and booked the "Brewery Tour". Myself and our fellow guests had superb afternoon. The host was welcoming, friendly and informative. And the staff were brilliantly accommodating throughout. The food was high-quality, and any queries we had were swiftly dealt with. They also produce a fantastic selection of ales. Could not recommend highly enough.

Great boozer I visit before most forest games , with my 2 lads & a few pals. The food is good , and even as busy as the pubs gets before the game , always served quickly. The beer is very good ,having brewery on site must help. Getting served at the bar is amazing ,even though the pub gets packed you never wait more than a couple of minutes for your. The staff are all really friendly , and cheerful.

This was a virtually derelict cess pit around five or so years ago, but underwent a total transformation. Its own brewery, Navigation Ales, was added a couple of years ago; naturally those beers feature heavily on the bar.
Navigation Ales produce a core range of about half a dozen real ales, plus a changing monthly special. Of five tried, the Pale Ale and a Stout (Eclipse) stood out.
The pub is a single (very large) room; but divided up by the provision of different furniture types in different areas, so feels quite cosy. There are four large TVs on various walls, usually showing sports. It frequently does live music in the evenings. There's a large patio at the back, about half of which is covered from the elements, for smokers.
Food is good value 'pub grub' style - with the two mains for £12 a particularly good deal. The chicken enchilada tried was a healthy portion, and suitably hot and spicy.
Right by Meadow Lane, and not too far a walk from The City Ground, it does get absolutely packed on match days.

Living in West Bridgford has some good points, and as you'd expect for any area - some bad points too. But none of those are to be found within the warmth, friendliness and quality you will be greeted with at The Nav.
There are numerous chain restaurants in the area, and sadly now a Weatherspoons has reared it's ugly head, but for fantastic locally sourced food, superb ales brewed on site abd from around the world, and service from friendly staff that is second to none - look no further than The Nav.
Many a time I have been faced with rude, surly, ill manered staff at the chain places in my area, and the one place I know this won't ever happen is the Trent navvy.
The bar staff are polite, warm, friendly and knowledgable about their products - brewed on site and the best pints you'll find this side of the river.
Food always delicious, served promptly - without being pinged in a microwave first (cough cough, Weatherspoons...) and always checking in to make sure your needs are catered for.
My family even travel from the other side of Nottingham to visit the pub - it really is that good.
I remember the state of the place before it was taken over; and won't frighten you with the gory details.
Hands down the best pub in west bridgford, amazing attentive staff - especially the young blonde lady who always seems to be there, hats off to you for always serving me and my family with a smile - even when the pub is rammed, and the bar is packed, it's so refreshing to see a smile.
Keep up the great work, already looking forward to our next visit!
