Owner description: Green's Windmill is a restored 19th Century tower mill, once home to mathematical physicist George Green. Turning again since 1986, climb to the top of our windmill and see how our sails turn grain into flour. In our interactive Science Centre discover the remarkable story of George Green, and experiment with light, electricity and magnetism. There's something for all the family!

“The Mill on the Hill”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

The ascent to the mill is fairly steep, so an old codger relative had to be driven to the top and deposited there. It's interesting to see the film about Green and the mill itself is a treasure, As an ex-science teacher, I found the science exhibition slightly weak but know that others would have a different reaction ........ and it's all free.

“Fun place to visit”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

We had a little time to,kill before we met our friends and we saw the mill on the horizon, so we decided to pay a visit. The staff were friendly, informative and entertaining, the placards on each floor provided a great deal of information on the history of the mill and it's working functions and it was just fun to see a wind-driven flour mill in operation.
In addition, the admission by donation rather than a fixed fee was unusual in this day and age.

“My first time seeing a working mill”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

I have never seen a working mill before, so this was very exciting for me. It is free and you get to go up through different floors and watch the process of milling first hand. They actually sell the organic flour that the mill produces on the site which is very nice. I totally recommend it, just one note, you should be OK with the stairs.
