“Opposite Uni, Trams, Theatre and centrally situated”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

The Premier inn is situated right opposite the University, the tram stop on the same side, this costs £2pp to the city or main tram station (train line) It is a busy area with bars and restaurants just over the road, 5 minutes walk. The premier inn is fairly quiet despite being opposite to the campus.

We arrived just after 3pm and the receptionist checked to see if our room was ready. The house keeper checked and said it was.

We were in room 227 on the second floor, not next to lifts and on one side no no next door neighbour. The room looked clean except they forgot to empty the waste bin in the bathroom, and the glass was left smeary on the mirrors. These are minor observations, nothing to really complain about. The TV worked, and there was a small open wardrobe with a few hangers, fine for a one night stay. Premier inn promote a good night sleep and indeed it is true, fabulous, and comfy pillows, very soft.

You will be required to bring your flannel/sponge, they do have a dispenser with imperial leather, although i found this hard to dispense, so took it apart. You have soap for face and hand washing, again a pump dispenser. Plenty of towels and extra pillows.

We faced the car park, so if you want quiet then this is a good choice, i would not have wanted to be Uni side, it was freshers week and well lets say they were having fun.

Outside you go if you are a smoker, ciggy bin supplied outside. After 11pm you use your key card to enter the building, and at all times use the card for your room door and also to activate the lift. Great idea, security is tight.

The only real noise we heard were guests walking up and down on any level in the hallways, it sounds like someone is coming through the ceiling, i thought it was the room above us, but its the corridor.

We had the full breakfast, all you can eat, great choice and if you are lucky, you may well get a greeting from Donna. Lovely lady, worked there for years. I left my purse on the table whilst getting breakfast, she told me to be careful as it was the goose fair lots of gypsies about. Plus we sat next to the door, so everyone in and out. I thanked her and went back to my seat. Donna is lovely, thoughtful, humorous and has a great work ethic, always asking if she could do anything. If you read this Managers of the Premier Inn, this lady is a credit to the hotel.

Our visit was to see the Illusionists, a 5 minutes walk from the Inn. Fantastic show that was. Hot water in the shower/bath, no problems.

Check out only seconds, i filled out an online survey. We will be back as it is the best centrally for everything, and trams do the loop so very convenient.

Thank you for a very nice stay

Room Tip: Quiet room 227, second floor over looking car park and away from lift.

stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my sister, short shopping trip. Could not fault any of the staff, all polite, friendly and willing. Have to mention the restaurant manager, Paul, friendly without being overfamiliar, attentive without being intrusive, appeared to run a happy ship with the rest of the staff but was definately in charge and the food was great. We had the 'meal deal' which was a 3 coarse dinner, glass of wine and full english breakfast for £22.99. Both meals were very, very good, could not fault them, excellent value. The service was very good, the restaurant was not busy but I've been in plenty of eating places where they weren't busy but the service was awful. The room was clean, the beds comfy, slept well.We did have a bit of a problem with the heating, the room was very warm, we couldn't work out how to change that but used one of the 2 fans supplied in the room - never known a hotel to supply fans before. Would definately go back.

I stay away a lot for work and often dont get the best nights sleep usually due to a hot room or uncomfortable bed. Not here.

I had the best night sleep I'd had in a hotel in a long time so this place gets top marks.

Breakfast was also very good with a good selection of hot and cold food. Service was also very good. I paid for 24 hours internet and when I realised it was a poor connection I got a refund from reception without quibble.

Only possible moan is the (free) car park is tiny and its expensive to park nearby.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my daughter to see Shayne Ward at the Rescue rooms just a stone throw away(which was why we chose this Premier Inn).
Staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms very clean. We had 2 fans in the room which was very welcome as it was warm weather at the time.
We did not eat in the restaurant, although one of our friends did and said food was very good.
The hotel has a small car park but we had no problem getting a space when we arrived at 5pm.
Would recommend.

I stayed here a couple of years ago and it was my first choice really to stay at again for a return trip to Nottingham, its really well situated a short walk or tram journey (from outside the front of the hotel) supplied everything i have come to expect from staying at Premier inn, the reception staff were really friendly and helpful without being patronising. The room clean tidy with choice of two pillows firm and soft which is a nice touch. There were also two fans in the room which would be a godsend in the summer, only criticism I could say is the TV was a little small in comparison to many other hotels offering these days. This is really only a nitpick though.
As of September 13 there is construction work underway over the road from the hotel on goldsmith street something that should really be mentioned on the website.
The onsite Costa, bar and restaurant are handy the food was reasonably priced and really tasty. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quite homely and relaxing, it would have been ore so without a couple of the other guests who had had more than a few drinks and thought continual foul language for all to hear was an acceptable way to behave.

We have stayed at Premier Inns many times.First time in Nottingham and the room was very nice , very friendly staff ,the breakfast was really good but I do feel £8.25 is rather expensive.
Very close to the city centre a 5 min walk .not the best Premier Inn weve stayed in but would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: we stayed on the first floor at the back wasn't any noise at all

Would never stay here again. Have stayed several times over 3 or 4 year period and have repeatedly had to complain about noise from other guests. Didn't stay for nearly 1 year, came back for a 3 night stay and was placed amongst a "lads night out"!! Complained and asked for another room at 9 pm and was told I couldn't be moved. There were other complaints from other guests too. This seems to be a common problem in this hotel and it's a real shame. The staff are lovely and the food and location good. Never again for me though.
