Been going to Rock City for almost 20 years - always a great atmosphere and good time!
This last visit was for Firefest, an all-day rock festival. The sound was good most of the time and you can get a good view from most places in the venue.
Highly recommended for a rocking night out!

I have been to many gigs here and the atmosphere is always great! However, the door staff are unprofessional and thuggish, asking for ID from people who are blatantly over 30 and subsequently turning them away....such a shame! I would recommend attending at least one gig here though....the greats of rock n roll have played here!

Having been to Rock City a few times now for gigs I have to say it's a great venue for live bands, perfect size and set up, excellent sound and the bar prices aren't too bad either.
However I was really disappointed with the club night, as there was a lot of pop/chart music being played which wasn't what I signed up for going to 'Rock City' - I asked for some Pearl Jam and was frowned at like I had two heads, but yet they were playing something along the lines of Katy Perry!! Sort it out Rock City! or change your name to Pop City!
I've given an excellent rating based purely on the live music aspect of the club.
For those looking for local cheap hotels I would recommend the Ramada which is in the next street - we've stayed there a few times for £45 per night.
The Rescue Rooms next door to Rock City is also a great live music venue (although VERY hot), and great for pre-gig drinks.

Have seen Reckless Love a number of times, and the gig at the Rock City was great. But we were looking forward to one of the so called famous Rock City Saturday nights. Instead of being treated to the likes of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Guns n Roses, and the like, we shocked by the emphasis of Rihanna & Justin Timberlake like any other bog standard night club. Not very rock n roll Rock City.

Get there early if there's a band on, sometimes hard to see if you don't get a good spot and you can't move once you have it. Parking in Talbot St multi story close by
