I love the pre-Xmas panto and this was terrific. Great Dame (sadly his last season) great gags and a simple traditional story used as a template for all the great panto fun.
Leaves the Theater Royal for dead. Much better seats, much more leg room, better view of the stage and a PROPER panto, not just a celeb-vehicle.
Terrific.

My partner and I visited here in September with some friends to see 1984. The show was fantastic and the theatre was great too.

The Playhouse is a real jewel and has some excellent productions, often written and directed by local talent. It is anyways worth a look and really needs our support now that the council has withdrawn funding,,,

Went to see Rapunzal with my 2 4yr old grandaughters. The story telling was superb, however it was not what they were expecting. to see.No pretty dresses,no handsome prince, no fairytale tower, no stage even. Having said that they seemed to enjoyed it if a little confused when we left. The 2 story tellers [there
were no other people in this performance] were excellent. The poster advertising this event bears no resembleance to the performance.
