The food and the atmosphere in this restaurant is very good. The food is British fare and is very well prepared and presented. At the far end of the restaurant there is a floor to ceiling window with an excellent view of the Robin Hood statue!

Havng had a good meal and heard an excellent live band (The Herb Birds) about 18 months ago, the same group plus partners went for an early Christmas meal last night.

Good - the location, the various rooms available for sitting to eat, the staff, the wine, we were served within minutes of each other so all ten of is were able to eat together comfortably.

Bad - our room was very cold, there were various free standing heaters, but they we struggling to throw any heat into the room; the main course was largely luke warm, the vegetables were al dente to the point of being close to raw. The most amusing moment was when we were told they couldn't serve the coffee we wanted to order because a party of forty upstairs we using all the cups! Additionally, the toilets were very 'tired'.

All in all a disappointing experience for a city centre restaurant in a great location.

What a location. Glass doors overlooking the Robin Hood statue and across to the Castle. There is no better place to sit in Nottingham.

Having been a wasted opportunity for so long, Fothergills is now, at last, in good hands - and really worth a visit again. A great place to sit and have a lively, yet not raucous drink with a decent crowd; and a great place to eat too. I probably wouldn't have said that this time last year, but now the food has really nudged up a step. They should be proud of it now, frankly. This is not pub food - it's an ever-changing, really appealing range, which is why we probably go back more often than we should.

The service is that really great blend of polite yet still friendly; I've had far worse at Nottingham's supposedly top-notch venues. Prompt; and attentive.

Yes, well worth adding to your list of 'places to go for a decent eat and drink in Nottingham'. In Winter, a warm welcome in the comfy seats by the windows. And, in the Summer, grab a table outside. (pic is our view from outside seating)

A group of us went here for a friends birthday and we were very disappointed with our expereince. First of all, the heating was broken and we were sat next to floor-to-ceiling windows so it was freezing! Overall, the food wasn't up to scratch (chewy pork, dry chicken) - although the menu sounds nice on paper... One of our group found a piece of tin foil in her dinner, and when she complained the waiter said 'oh sorry, sometimes bits of foil do end up in the food. Not sure if it's us or our supplier.' They then went on to say 'You're lucky it wasn't a nail as we've had one of those before.' At that point I wasn't sure if I wanted to finish my food as I didn't know what might be lurking in there! The staff weren't very attentive and we were left waiting for a long time at the end of the meal, until one of us had to get up and ask for the bill ourselves. When the bill came it was wrong and they'd added someone elses drinks onto our bill. In the end the wiped the drinks off the bill, but as most of us had been buying drinks separatley from the bar it ended up with only 3 or 4 drinks being free. All in all it wasn't a good experience and I wouldn't recommend anyone go there for a meal. Although there did seem to be a nice atmosphere in the bar area so it might be ok to go for a drink.
