Booked in one night Friday 13th September 2013 for a family wedding, as a wedding venue fantastic everything ran smoothly & was done for them, right my room “the Huntington” I must admit just dumped my bags in the room @ 1pm & did not return to the room until 3am, It was in the morning when I planned to have a shower, what shower? there was nothing attached to the wall (see photos) the bathroom was quite grubby with the fan hanging off the ceiling & 50s hair dryer that you would not dare use, we gave the shower a miss, the room was quite grubby there were some massive cobwebs & wallpaper hanging off the ceiling, the bulb in the table light was smashed with the element fittings still there, I could only get ITV2 on the TV ?

Buffet breakfast loads of choice hot & plentiful.

Lovely build & ground probably listed but needs full refurbishment before the place falls down!

1 nights stay for 2 £90:80 plus I racked up another £90 on my room card which was not that hard considering it was £9 for a double baileys!

Very nice building, nice people , the rooms and plumbing are tired.... My room had a bath which the shower plug is pulled in the upright position and feeds another mixer valve.... There was no control of the hot and cold water. It's ok for a summer night but I would want that same cold shower on a winter morning! The bed was comfy enough and the surrounding area is pretty, beware of the speed bumps leading to the hotel they are rather high and scratched the bottom of my car as a creep over them. It was an experience but once is enough.

Room Tip: Ask if the shower works and offers water pressure and temperature adjustment

This hotel is situated in lovely parkland , it is reminiscent of an old Gothic building , the entrance way needs a bit of TLC in the way of tidying up and painting ... check in is at 2.30pm . The stairway is attractive overlooking a lounge area with a lovely fireplace. Our room was up and down stairs through a myriad of hallways and reminded me very much of the inside of a "Blackpool guest house" .
Our room was adequate, dated (1970/80's) decor, the beds were very comfortable, shower/toilet clean but small . On opening the sash windows i had to wedge a book between sill and window to keep them from sliding shut , the exterior paintwork was in dire need of painting as it was all flaking off. We did not have any food at this hotel so cannot comment on that.
The hotel served its purpose for us and at £45 was ok , Would certainly not pay much more for a room there .....

My wife and I stayed at the Bestwood Lodge Hotel for a couple of nights. Having read the mixed reviews we were a little concerned but as the bed and breakfast price was actually slightly better than for the local Premier Inn we thought we would take the chance on this occasion.

As with many Best Western hotels the property was a little "tired" - a real shame as it has obviously been very grand in it's past. However, our room was a good size with a very comfortable and large bed. The decoration was in good condition and the small en-suite shower room was very tidy. There was not much of a view from our room and there was a bit of noise below in the evening as it overlooked the the back of the kitchen (I believe) - however this wasn't much of an issue and was only more obvious because we had the window wide open as it was pleasantly warm.

There were wedding receptions on both evenings but we heard no noise at all from them - maybe because our room was fairly far from the front of the hotel.

We did not eat in the restaurant in the evenings but we did have breakfast. This was a cold and hot buffet style with plenty to choose from and this was all very tasty.

Overall we found the staff very friendly and we felt that, for the price we had paid, it had been very good value.

We booked this hotel for my daughter's wedding and many guests stayed for one or two nights. We were very impressed by the helpful and friendly staff. The food served at the wedding breakfast was excellent and food served in the restaurant during the rest of the week-end was also to a high standard. All our guests commented on how lovely the hotel was. The seating area around the entrance hall / bar is a great place to relax and chat. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a modern bathroom - the bed is without doubt the largest I have ever slept in. I would definitely recommend this hotel both as great place to stay but also to anyone wanting a wedding venue with a bit of character!

Room Tip: Speak to the staff when you book so that they can be aware if you have specific requirements. They...

We stayed for a wedding and the £80 room was terrible. Thread bare carpet, peeling wallpaper and a green toilet suite straight from the 70s and probably as old.
The wedding itself was lovely, but the food wasn't good.
Overall rather poor for what we got.

We stayed here for one night for a wedding. We checked in late at night but the reception staff were still friendly and courteous. The Hotel itself is an impressive building and the rooms are far bigger than we expected, including the comfiest bed I have slept in in a long time! On top of all this is is very reasonably priced and we would definitely stay here again
