We stayed at the Mecure Nottingham as we were going to the Capital FM Arena Which by the way is only a 5 min walk. When we arrived at the hotel check in was smooth no problem they were expecting us which was bonus as we had booked almost a year ago through a hotel web site. The room was clean and fully stocked with tea and coffee. The Breakfast on the 1st morning was freshly prepared as they were not busy and the second morning it was a buffet, both equally good. The staff were very attentive and interested in what you had to say. Although the hotel was in the middle of the city and there are a few pubs ect near by the noise was something that by passed us.

Sorry, but aren't 90% of hotels in city centres?????

It's possible to block out the noise of traffic and revellers in major cities across the world (New York - the city that never sleeps, Rio, Bangkok etc ) UNBELIEVABLY this is clearly NOT possible in Nottingham!! A hostel in the middle of Amsterdam is quieter than this!

Being offered a move of hotels to the IBIS (!) at 12.45am in the morning is NOT customer service. NEITHER is a feebly pathetic 10% off the bill and the truly CRAP excuse that it's a city centre hotel. -- looking at other reviews this has clearly been a problem for other people too!

Also - sort the bottom of the door to the room out - a sloping gap of 1.5 inches is NOT acceptable - if your hotel is the oldest in the city it's bound to have uneven floors if you haven't done anything to level them!

Not sure this room has ever been used before - to get to a socket to plug in the kettle or hairdryer you have to move the desk - that's after 10 minutes of trying to find the socket ! The bathroom is boiling hot, and the airconditioning rattles. Lastly - what's the point of a wardrobe when you can't see into it after dusk as the lighting is so awful?

If this had been £40 I would had been narked but £90 just for the room is insane!

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments, we enjoy receiving constructive feedback from our guests.
We make no secret of the fact that our hotel is located right in the heart of the city centre and whilst we have taken every effort to minimise external noise, through glazing and insulation, it is impossible for us to silence the sounds of the restaurants, bars and nightlife right on our doorstep.
Our hotel was built in 1822 and in our restoration works we felt it important to preserve its glorious history rather than just flattening it. Yes this leaves us with slopey floors and quirky bedroom layouts but whilst we appreciate that some people would rather sleep in a square soundproof box lots of guests think this all just adds to our boutique character

On arrival there were 4 front desk staff. One was new and clearly shadowing another checking in another guest, nothing wrong with that agreed. However it was unclear what the other members of staff were doing. We were left waiting for an awkward amount of time without even a "sorry someone would be right with you". When we were finally checked in there was no apology for being kept waiting, not even a smile or a pleasant greeting.

The room was disappointing. I had booked the 'Privilege King room' after having read reviews that paying that bit extra was worth it. I DISAGREE. The holder for the card to turn on the lights in the room was placed away from the door around the corner, so you have no choice but to fumble in the dark every time. The room was a lovely size but the space was wasted as the bed was wedged up against the window. Dressing gowns were provided for that little bit of luxury just a shame one of them was dirty. There were leftovers from someone else in the bottom of the toilet pan. Cracks in the wall. Despite the bed being very comfy it was wasted as nobody got any sleep due to the noise from the night revels seeping through the windows.

On the upside the shower was large and there was no shortage of hot water. The staff at breakfast the following morning were very pleasant and made you feel as if nothing was to much trouble. Maybe they should give the front desk staff a few tips?

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments, we are sorry to read that you were disappointed with elements of your recent stay with us. There was some training taking place on the day that you arrived and so please accept our apologies that your welcome to the hotel was not as warm as all of us would have expected. The breakfast team were very pleased with their positive mention and they would look forward to looking after you again on your next visit to Nottingham

The hotel is well located and it was good value for the price. However, the breakfast is quite expensive for what you get so I would recommend to eat somewhere else. The room wasn't big but it was well organized. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean.

We got a really good value room only deal via lastminute.com.

The Mercure Nottingham is very clean and is nicely decked out. The rooms have everything you need with top notch beds and bathrooms.

Above all, the hotel is right in the city centre, surrounded by good cafes, bars and restaurants.

This is not a bad hotel, but its not great either. Firstly, if you are driving, your car will have to be parked at your expense in a grubby council car park about 100m from the hotel. The rooms are OK but if want to sleep with the window open, the party goers will keep you awake til the early hours and the garbage man will wake you up in the early hours, so there is not much in between. Breakfast is very well done and reasonable.

Comfortable room, modern & very nicely presented, decent sized bathroom with full sized bath (good for a smallish double room), air con, good breakfast. I'd stay there again except only if I wasn't driving. The car park we were recommended on the hotel website wasn't easy to find - Nottingham city centre has TERRIBLE road signage (rather ironic as my partner was in the city for a road traffic conference). We ended up at Stoney Street car park (NCP), as Fletcher Gate (?) was displaying 'FULL' signs when we arrived and we missed the entrance for Fletcher Gate car park anyway, being fooled by the residents only entrance beyond the exit instead - it was still displaying 'FULL' when we walked past mid evening when it was clearly half empty. We told the car park attendant, who claimed the car park didn't have any such electronic sign displayed on the street. ??

Also, having to pay £16.50 for 24 hours parking jacked up the overall cost of the stay. So, I'd recommend this hotel if you're NOT driving - it is otherwise well placed for the city centre. It could be very difficult for a disabled driver, as I couldn't work out how you'd find any parking place closer than these car parks, as the hotel seems to be in a pedestrianised area. Watch out for the trams on your way to the car park too.

Room Tip: Even the smaller double was a decent sized room for a one night stay but perhaps not big enough if y...

Many thanks for posting your positive comments regarding your room and breakfast during your stay at our hotel. We’re just sorry that Nottingham’s infamous one way systems and parking signage caused you challenges on your way to find us!

The hotel has been here since 1822 - the roads have then been built around us as the city has grown. We recommend that guests follow the orange Parksmart signs to the Lace Market Zone and then the Fletcher Gate car park (NG1 1QE) Discounted parking is available there from £5 per 12 hours.
