Stayed at a few Holiday Inns but this was probably the nicest. Everything that you would expect from a Holiday Inn; clean, very comfortable beds, air con, helpful staff. Decided to have the evening meal and was amazed at the quality of food, definately had the wow factor in taste and presentation! Nice walk to the city by the canal.

I have been staying at this holiday in since June 2012 on and off while I have been working. Positives - Location - Sainsbury, Pizza Hut, Beefeater 2 mins walk, town Centre 10 min drive. Hotel itself, like all holiday inns i ve been in they are clean, staff ok, ok food and drink. Negatives – Priority members and normal guests there is no difference at reception, ive stayed endless times and only been offered a paper twice. All rooms have No AC expect the Exec Room. It is basically controlled centrally so summer time can be miserable; you have to ask for a fan and a key to open the window. The rooms all needs an overall, they are shabby and worn out esp the bathrooms, you know its going down hill when the ceiling tiles are made from the stuff you had at school back in the 80’s, they still have CRT Televisions in the all rooms, and you cannot open the windows unless you’re on the ground floor. The hotel Bar and Restaurant are small so expect long waits when busy.

Room Tip: Back facing car park and exec rooms

Dear Mitch121

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel following you recent stays with us.

I am delighted that our plans for the hotel included flat screen TV's for 2013. Unfortunately old TV's in hotel bedrooms can make the whole room appear dated.

We only stayed at this hotel for one night but it was very nice indeed. The rooms are fairly standard holiday inn fare but very clean and quiet. The location of this hotel is great if you want to be away from the noise of the city centre but not too far out either. The parking is free which you do not get with the city centre hotels so that's a bonus. The staff were very friendly and when my key card didn't work and I had walked back down to reception to sort it out the receptionist said if it happened again to stay on the floor and ring up and they would come to me I thought this was very helpful indeed. The breakfast was very nice it was replenished in a timely fashion and he waitress we had was very friendly. I would recommend this hotel if you want to avoid the stag and hen revellers that you will find in city centre hotels , it was lovely and quiet, would definitly return to this hotel.

Stayed one night as were up in Nottingham one night to watch the football.

Easy to find, rather uninspiring location on retail park, but on site parking, costs £5 for a taxi into the centre of town. Staff on reception efficient but didn't try and engage with us at all, ask how our journey was, if we had been to the hotel before etc

Room a bit tired if you looked closely, skirting’s were dusty also had an old style TV, surprised with the buying power of Holiday Inn these haven’t been replaced with a flat screen model.

Tea and coffee tray / kettle combo unit looked like it was from the 70’s (but kettle worked quickly which is better then most hotels) Towels could do with an upgrade as they were quite thin and beds a bit soft and mega bouncy! Bathrooms also a bit 1980's and loo roll was cheap as quite rough!

We had a room at the back and could hear the hum of the air con units and also passing train noise but it wasn’t that loud. Air con in room worked fine, lobby of hotel compared to outside was almost fridge like.

Drinks at the hotel very pricy, single vodka and tonic and a wine spritzer come to £9.50 – should have walked across the car park to Sainsbury’s! McDonalds next door is handy – we ate breakfast here.

For £69 a night ‘room only’ it was OK as a place to sleep but wouldn’t want to pay any more. If we could get the Premier Inn (next door) for a similar price we would stay there if returning as nicer beds and towels.

Dear Vanesa_Bristol

Thank you for your comments following your stay with us.
We are continually looking at ways to improve our hotel and the service we offer and welcome and value all feedback.

I am delighted that our investment plans for the hotel include new flat screen TV’s. Certainly old style TV’s can make a hotel bedroom look dated.
I hope you do decide to stay with us again on your next trip to Nottingham.

Stayed here on buisness quite a few times. Food is lovely and reasonable, though drinks are expensive. Rooms are average and some of the bathrooms could use a facelift, but staff are very freindly. Would recommend to those visiting Lenton and Riverside on buisness. Not ideal if visiting for pleasure as quite a way away from the city centre.

I've almost lived at this hotel for the last 4 months during the week and consider myself, therefore, a bit of an afficionado. The staff are generally great, especially in the bar, but the receptionists can come across as a bit offish...this is just Nottingham, I don't think they've done any customer service courses in this region since the coal miners' strike 26 years ago. The hallways could do with a bit of a refurb, and the rooms only have circa 1998 teles in them, so no flat screens etc. Otherwise the rooms are big enough, well equiped and the cleaning and service is superb. The location is excellent for the town centre and the local Hungry Horse pub is just fifty yards away and just on the canal; the staff there are briliiant. Come on though Holdiay Inn...not having free WIFI is going to lose you business soon!
