It's a hidden Gem. If you go you won't be left wanting anything! Amazing relaxed atmosphere and friendly customer service as it should be everywhere you go.
The food is the best quality and wonderfully flavoured (if you want spice you won't be disappointed with the hot dishes). And beautiful presentation which fits with the beautiful authentic decor.
Don't waste your money at the nearby all you can eat restaurants just go here!

“Little gem of a restaurant”
Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

Small inconspicuous restaurant pretty much opposite the crown plaza down a side alley. Convenient on street parking by hotels on the main road. I will review this as someone who has dined at many Thai restaurants, all over Asia and in England. The staff are as friendly as I have seen, the ambience quiet and tranquil, though not perhaps as decorative inside as some other Thai restaurants in notts. The service was excellent, and they even tried to advise us on spice levels for all of our orders. The food was excellent overall. Satay chicken and golden bags very tastey, followed by perfect Tom yum soup with correct amount if chilli. The Penang curry with many very large quality prawns was excellent, the holy basil chilli chicken was not quite as good but still delicious. The price incl drinks (cokes, jasmine tea 2xpots) was £40 for two, very good for the food standard. Would put this into my top 5 Thai restaurants in notts easily.

“Fantastic smiley, friendly service and top food”
Reviewed January 2, 2013 via mobile

Last minute decision to have Thai food in Nottingham and stumbled across Chai Yo Thai Cafe. Friendly, warm smile from waitress as soon as we walked in. She was so attentive. Food was superb and she offered to make requests to chef. We love Thai food and have been to a few other Thai restaurants in the city but been disappointed. Recommend the tom khar soup, jungle curry and green curry. Am so pleased that we have finally found a thai restaurant that we definitely want to go back to.

“Consistantly brilliant”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

We went here on 01/12/2012 for a quick bite at 7 pm. The food was excellent. We had red curry, Pad thai, Egg fried rice & 3 bottles of beer. The food was superb & there was plenty between 2, the service was excellent & it was so cheap. Fast becoming our favorite thai restaurant.

“It's good as it's in UK”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

This restaurant hides itself in a small street and view to the inside is not possible since the dining area is actually lower than the ground. This makes us hesitates to go in as we see no one seating inside (from the outside). Inside, it's a bit dark and there is food smell which sticks to our clothes later. We come for lunch, order pad thai (one with chicken and one with beef) and tom yum soup (with mushroom). The soup is not so good, quite salty. Pad thai is fine for me, I quite enjoy it actually. But for my friend, who comes from Malaysia and had eaten Thai food in Thailand many times, she says it's too sweet for her and she couldn't finish it. The service is generally nice. However, there are only 2 staffs at time we visit and they 'disappear' for awhile which makes us waiting to order something.
