This review isn't written after a one off experience like so many of my others. Instead it's after having had the joy of visiting this little gem of a pub time and time again. There is simply no other place like it.

The food is fresh, seasonal, unpretentious and absolutely beautiful - especially the steaks (mine's a sirloin - medium rare). The restaurant has a real atmosphere and buzz about it; and benefits from the wall to wall doors that spill out on to the beautifully landscaped beer garden lit up by lanterns. I've eaten the Fish & Chips here too - gives Mr Stein's Padstow restaurant a run for it's money (not sure the reviewer below was at the same pub - wouldn't be surprising if they're confused - battered is spelt as previous by the way, not "batterd")

The whole establishment is welcoming and the staff very attentive and friendly. On each occasion I've visited; it has been full to the brim, so I would advise reserving your table. It's no surprise this place is popular to be honest!

Will definitely be coming back again, and again... and again.

Lovely setting in a nice village, just outside nottingham.

Small carpark (5 spaces) but plenty on road parking.

Lovely beer garden with small 'monkey gym' for kids. Boules area.

Visited in summer and outdoor BBQ being set up and outside marquee with bar (not open when we went but maybe too early)

Nice cask ales on tap.

Great building with character and ambience. Large dining area.

Daily menus by the look of it. Good choice and reasonable price for the quality which we got. Both had the steak & ale pie (£9.95). Full of tender meat, with great pastry. In a lovely gravy. I had chips which where chunky home made, partner had mash, which was PROPER mash (wish I'd have gone for mash even though chops were lovely!) and nice mushy peas.

Quality of food excellent. Beers great ( had Black Sheep) could not fault the service from staff either. Friendly and accommodating.

Would recommend this pub, especially on a warm evening to sit outside and eat.

Over the years really enjoyed meals here.Last few times have found it to be noisy, lots of lads and girls in and out of the kitchen .Appreciate they have to go in and out but its annoying when the tables are so close.Lots of loud giggling and not a smile from the landlady.
The food really has changed and was expensive for what it was.Had a hallumi salad which wasnt worth half of cost.Roast beef was tough and veg uninspiring.
On the plus side the setting is heaven.
