“Lovely cottage in a great location”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

My wife and I have just returned from a week’s stay in Honeysuckle Cottage. The cottage was well equipped with everything you would need. Chris, Shirley, Blue and Smudge are very friendly and helpful. They have plenty of information about the area available in the cottage booklet and the leisure room. Excellent value for money.

Myself and my Husband was looking for somewhere to stay in the Peak Distrct that would also take our pet dog. I was very wary at booking somewhere that takes dogs due to it being unclean or smelly from previous experiences. Bolehill really impressed us. It is very clean, tidy and has everything you need.

We stayed in honeysuckle for 4 nights and had the best time. We went on a few lovely walks and our favourite was to Sheldon which is approx 2 miles away from Bolehill. On the way to Sheldon you come across an old mine which is very interesting to explore. We also went into Bakewell by foot which is not recommendable if you don't like walking on roads! We made this mistake but we made the most of it and had a lovely time looking around the village.

The cows at Bolehill farm are funny and take an interest if you have a dog. There is a paddock area where you can let your dog run free which we thought was brilliant to tire your dog out. Smudge and Blue who live at the farm are lovely dogs and come and greet you whenever your coming or going.

Chris and Shirley were very welcoming and would do anything for you. We got talking to a couple who stay there every year. To us this is always a good sign of good customer service.

Bolehill is in a beautiful location and great for walking and exploring.

We are planning on going back next year and taking family with us. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone who wants to visit the peaks. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

So glad you had a great stay. Thank you for your lovely review you make us sound like a wonderful working farm which sadly we are not, we just happen to rent our fields out to the neighbouring farm. We look forward to seeing you next year.

Have Know been to bolehill for the last 2 yrs since finding the farm on the internet and due to return this May and September as I have found a really good book with walks around the area and have left a copy with Chris and Shirley so other people who stay can enjoy. Chris and Shirley are very welcoming from our very first visit and their dogs are really friendly with people and other dogs. Have also managed to get really good weather on each visit. The town of Bakewell is nice and people are very friendly and helpful.

Four friends from overseas stayed at the farm for 5 nights in May. The stone cottage was surrounded by fields and cows and was very warm and comfortable. It was close to the pretty town of Bakewell, Chatsworth House and the cycling centre. I was cycling the rail trail and my friends had the car Shirley said if I phoned her from the visitors centre she would pick me up in Bakewell. Not only did Shirley pick me up she drove back through another very pretty village in case I didn't have time to see it. It was wonderful and turned a great stay into a fabulous stay. Thanks Shirley.

Stayed last weekend for 3 nights. Chris and Shirley were most welcoming , ever available but never intrusive. The cottage was very well equipped and spotless. Surprised to find a dishwasher included. I managed to lock the keys in my car on a Sunday and Chris and Shirley got a garage out the same day and were super helpful in every respect.

Small criticisms: The shower was very weak and the neighbours very audible in the room above the ground floor bedroom of Magpie Cottage.

All in all, a thoroughly good place to stay. Very well organised and well situated for Bakewell and the lovely Lathkill Dale.

Room Tip: Just ask. There are several cottages to choose from, each unique, so ask for what you want.

We've had a wonderful 4 night break in Sheepfold (2 adults, 2 teenagers and our dog). The cottage is set in a very peaceful location with fields where you are free to roam. It was well equipped, clean and cosy. Chris and Shirley are very friendly (as are Blue and Smudge) and helpful. Local facilities are very convenient with Bakewell just a couple of minutes drive away. The central location provided easy access to everything the Peak District has to offer...horse riding at Flash, Alton Towers, Dovedale and cycling at Derwent reservoir. Don't miss a walk along Lathkill Dale from either end as it is just over the road from the farm. Would most definitely stay again, probably for longer as there is so much to see.

very enjoyable short break in a comfortable cottage. Would readily recommend. location suited our purpose. very friendly owners . next time we will probably take our dog but book a larger cottage. Ideal location for visiting Chatsworth and othe local properties.

Room Tip: We stayed in Bluebell which we found to be a bit small and had difficulty with the outside steps but...
