“A really peaceful and comfortable stay”

We spent a weekend in Brakenlea Cottage to break up a journey back from the Scottish Highlands with our 4 month old daughter and 3 year old son. Following a car journey with a small child and a baby, the cottage was very welcoming indeed! It was clean, comfortable and warm; we had even been left a very nice welcome pack. It was well equipt and he facilities were in good condtion. We all loved our stay and everyone (baby permitting) slept well. The surrounding countryside and village are beautiful, and we were even treated to a dusting of snow.
A great place to stay if you are looking for a proper break from it all. We certainly hope to return soon.

How easy was it to book the property? How helpful were the directions to the property?
How easy was key pickup/access to the property?

“Top quality snug cottage in beautiful surroundings”

Brackenlea is beautifully decorated with tasteful decor and gorgeous photos on the walls. It is snug and warm and has all you need for a base to explore this beautiful area.

We spent a great week doing some walking and chilling out. It's a good space to cook and has a great TV! Cragside is great to explore just down the road and Rothbury is not far and has all the amenities, pubs and cafes you need for a quiet holiday. We also enjoyed driving out to Barrowburn to the tea rooms and walking near there for the fantastic views.

It is a snug place and my only caution would be that it may feel crowded if you had 4 adults and bad weather, but it suited us great. I would go back without question.

One of our beds hadn't been made up due to miscommunication, but Sean was extremely quick at getting back to us and solving the problem. He seemed very friendly and helpful.

“The perfect holiday cottage”

Everything was immaculate and so well thought out. With no mobile signal the owners have thoughtfully installed a pay phone. Directions to the cottage tell you that it is next to the pub--unfortunately no food served, so best to take first nights dinner!

We had a wonderful week in this cosy, immaculately clean well equipped cottage. It was our first holiday with our 1 year old puppy and you would never have know the cottage allowed dogs due to its pristine condition. All info received prior to holiday was useful and accurate as well as useful maps etc in cottage.Plenty of good walking locally and several amazing national trust properties not too far away. Also the wonderful Northumbrian beaches and castles about an hours drive.Of coarse wall to wall sunshine all week was the icing on the cake!

Absolutely outstanding. A fantastic cottage which was incredibly well equipped, exceptionally clean, warm and cosy. It lacked nothing. There was so much to see and do in the area, a week is hardly long enough. One of our best holidays in the UK ever.

“Exceptional Cottage and Ideal Location”

My husband & 2 teenage children stayed at Brackenlea Cottage. The cottage is extremely well equipped and beautifully presented - much thought has been given to the recent total refurbishment and this made for a very, very enjoyable stay. The location is perfect: easy for the coast and for walks in the Pennines. Sean, the owner, always responded promptly to emails and very easy to deal with. Very good experience over all.

Liked best: Location and the exceptionally high standard of the property
Liked least: Unfortunately, no garden. Though this did not detract from the whole, very good experience

Thank you so much for the 5 star review! It is so lovely to know that the new style of the cottage is going down so well with guests and we would love to have you and your family back in the future! Just to note.. the hills are the Cheviots not the Pennines! ;)
