“Lovely farmhouse in a stunning, tranquil location.”
Reviewed March 30, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Farnham Fell Farmhouse was chosen because of it's beautiful location, the surrounding scenery was spectacular. The house was cosy and warm, large bedrooms with comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Everything you need for a nice relaxing holiday.
Was concerned that there would be noise from the kennels, didn't hear a thing once you
were inside the house. Being a cat lover I was quite disappointed not to get a visit from any of the owners cats. Maybe next time.

“Very welcoming and has spectacular views.”

An excellent base from which to explore Hadrian's wall and its many Roman remains and museums. There are lots of charming villages and towns to visit and the countryside is really lovely. It was great to be able to bring our dog and he was safe running in the garden.
We had a very pleasant stay. The children loved the gramophone and the tortoise.

“Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location”

Everything about the cottage was great: the booking process was easy and the owner friendly and helpful. The cottage had a proper farmhouse feel with rustic decor and the widest staircase I have ever seen. The rooms were spacious and comfy and it was a real bonus to find a washing machine AND dryer in addition to the dishwasher. There were some little treats waiting for us on arrival, which made us feel welcome. There was a tv in virtually every room (including the kitchen!). WiFi access was a bit hit-and-miss, however.

The cottage makes a fantastic base for exploring Hadrian's Wall and the Northumberland coast, and it was fun visiting the nearby "blue lagoon". The views from the garden were spectacular and I would definitely stay there again, as the region has so much to offer. It's lovely to be somewhere where there's very little traffic, even in the height of summer, and lots of peaceful, open space.

“Central to Hadrian's Wall main attractions”
Reviewed August 31, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Excellent "off the beaten track" property. Cosy, comfortable cottage with everything we needed. Chester's Roman fort is within walking distance with Housesteads and Vindolanda a short drive away. Lots of quiet country lanes so would be good for cycling and between the fishing beats of the North and South Tyne. Plenty of good walking.

“First visit to Frankham Fell”
Reviewed July 26, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We chose this house for its location and convenience for a fishing holiday. We found the cottage to be very comfortable clean spacious and very well equipped in the kitchen with all the necessary items provided. The welcome hamper was a nice touch and much appreciated.
Would certainlly recommend the farm house to anyone who prefers a quiet and restful holiday with easy access to many nearby visitor attractions.

“Beautiful views near Hadrian's Wall”
Reviewed July 22, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Frankham Fell Farmhouse was lovely - very nice rooms and furniture in a remote location with really wonderful views. The space was great for five people (two children, three adults), with a nice dining room and a great living room with an old wind-up record player (the kids loved it). The kitchen was well-stocked and included some welcome drinks.

Ok, so after all this why is it 4/5 instead of 5/5? Well, just a couple of warning points.
The bathroom with shower (also beautiful) is on the ground floor, the three bedrooms are on the first floor.
The mattresses were ok, but we could feel some springs.
It shares a property with a kennel, so there are plenty of dogs around (but the house is well insulated so we didn't hear them).

All in all, we'd go back every time. But some other travelers might worry about the above.

One of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in, well equipped with everything you could possibly need. A peaceful lovely location, central for exploring. Wifi an added bonus and reasonable mobile phone signal. There was nothing nicer than sitting in the conservatory watching the flora and fauna and we were lucky to see two deers frolicking in the field opposite. Didn't want to come home.
