The food is far beyond standard pud grub, the staff where all friendly. Great selection of ales, ciders and largers.

My friend and I used this as a base for exploring Hadrian's wall, and in this respect alone, it's location could not be faulted.
The inn itself has a large bar and lounge area and a big dining room. The food and drinks were ok, although the breakfast could have been better. The room we stayed in was basic and was quite small and a little rough arround the edges.
There is not that much in the way of competition any where near and as such we felt like the twice Brewed a little laxed. It was expensive and not the best value in terms of accommodation.
However, a good location for exploring the wall.

As a pub, the Twice Brewed Inn is excellent. They have an interesting selection of Real Ales, and their food -- both their lunch/dinner menu and their breakfast, if you're staying over night -- is very good.

The accommodations are also good, though you can find better along the Hadrian's Wall Path. We stayed in a twin room, with shared toilet and shower. The toilet and shower facilities (along with the room) were scrupulously clean. The room did lack a television, and there was quite a bit of noise until the pub and restaurant area closed at around 11 pm or so.

Not a lot I really wnat to say about this pub. Stopped for a meal and found the service and and bar meals to be very poor, over charged on deserts.

Would really recommend you travel about 3 miles west along to the Milecastle Inn (much better pub)

This B&B is situated right on Hadrians Wall, a short walk from the famous Sycamore Tree and a few minutes from Housesteads and Vindolanda Roman ruins. Not all rooms are ensuite so check ahead, its nice if the room has ensuite. Rooms are adequate and most of the clientele are either hikers or volunteers at the Roman excavations at Vindolanda. Breakfast is fairly avergae but the evening meals are tasty, filling and reasonable value. Good range of real ales behind the bar along with 62 different Rums. Nice atmosphere in the bar in the evenings as well as a quite room.

I pitched up at short notice and plumped for the "deluxe" twin room, which was OK, but hardly worth £82. The main selling point is the location, which is great, as it's brilliant for walking the wall, but during my week travelling around the north of England, this was the most expensive place I stayed and the thin walls meant I could hear all the bodily functions of the next room and their droning bathroom fan all night. Had the visitor centre next door mentioned there was a Yoth Hostel next door I would have stayed there instead. In the evening the pub is great, and the daft pub quiz is very enjoyable, but in the morning it took ages to find any staff to check out. And someone should tell the chef that raisins have no place in salad.

I also stayed here six nights while I was a volunteer digging at Vindolanda. and to echo what Justin-T64 said it really is a Delightful half an hour walk to the site from the pub, But that's as good as it gets! I booked a single room or should i say a cell, small isn't the right word for it, yes the room has a wardrobe an old kiddies one! and a small sink which you coundn't stand in front of because of the wardrobe! As for the bed lets not go there. But worst of all was the constant noise, as the room was warm i tried leaving the window open but gave up because of the constant woossshhh from the cars going by and the banging of the car doors from the carpark next door add to that the constant banging of the staff door at ridculous times in the morning ie 03.30 "I was glad to get home just for a sleep".And where was the T.V?

When was the last time anyone stayed in a B&B with no room T.V?

I for one don't mind sharing shower and toilet facilities, but what i do object to is them not being cleaned properly ie hairs covering the plug hole, which stopped the water running away, which in turn made the shower into my own personal paddling pool, nice!
That said the staff are very nice and the food was ok, not great.Would i stay at the Twice Brewed Inn again? The answer would have to be, not on your life!
