Owner description: Lying in magnificent countryside next to a sweeping section of Hadrian's Wall and based at the site of Carvoran Roman Fort, the Roman Army Museum is an authentic and dramatic tribute to Rome’s extraordinary military legacy. Step into the life of a Roman soldier and experience life on the front line of Emperor Hadrian’s formidable British frontier. Explored through reconstructions, objects excavated along Hadrian's Wall and the Vindolanda Trust’s inspiring interpretations of army life including the exclusive 3D Edge of Empire film, the museum pays unforgettable homage to Rome's military accomplishments in Britain.

My husband and I enjoyed this museum more than the one at vindolanda but I think this museum is geared more to families so being your kids here!

First of all ensure you visit Vindolanda as well. buy the tickets together. The museum is really well laid out and has fantastic exhibits. The 3D movie well worth the wait. If you are in the area and are interested in the wall visit

Don't go to Hadrians Wall until you've got all the history from this museum. Kept surprising us with new snippets of information, despite pre conceived ideas that it would regurgitate all the old roman cliches.
Really worth going.

I haven't been to the Roman Wall for decades and was pleasantly surprised by this museum - small but well run and the 3D film was very informative.
