“Why would you go to CentreParcs ?”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Yes there are a couple of quirks (like electricity not being included) .... but the lodges simply make CentreParcs feel cheap and tacky ... simple things like the quality of the glasses and toaster are a giveaway ... the fact that towels, bathrobes, washing up liquid etc are included. Our lodge this year had a patio, balcony, sauna, jacuzzi, huge bedroom .... you get the picture.
The immediate attarctions are obvious (hotel facilities, 2 golf courses, walks etc), but don't forget the surrounding areas are full of history (Corbridge, Hexham, Vindolanda). Even the Beamish museum isn't too far away.
If you've not been to this part of the world give it a go - the scenery's great and the people are friendly

We have owned a lodge now for ten years and love our yearly visits to Slaley. They have great facilities within, including a sauna and jacuzzi bath. Very roomy and plush. The only negative is the heating is by electrical heaters, which are expensive and only just sufficient. The company should invest in log burners in my humble opinion. The hotel itself is beautiful with a nice pool and gym, good restaurants, spa for the fairer sex and activities apart from the amazing golf courses include 4x4 driving, quad biking (brilliant fun) archery, clay pigeon and many more. The countryside around and activities in Northumberland make this end of England one of the most beautiful and entertaining parts of the world

We have two weeks at Devere resorts every year; this year we have stayed at Slayey once (3 nights) with a full week at the end of November to look forward to. Our 3 night stay was just the two of us, we didn't stay in our allotted lodge but in a bungalow at the bottom. We overlooked the small lake and spent hours watching the birds, ducks and leaves blowing across the water; how totally relaxing. That's what we go for; to relax and unwind and that's all we do. At the most we'll wander around the superb grounds or drive down into Hexham and that's it. The bungalows have just been refurbished; the quality and standard is excellent; the cleanliness is spot on why would you want to go out and leave it. As the weather wasn't to good when we were there last we stayed indoors, however, you have the choice of dining or sitting outside on your private patio. We don't use the hotel facilities so we can't commnet on these.

We stayed here for 3 nights in February this year. It was half term week and we had booked a 3 bedroom lodge. When we arrived there had been a problem with the booking menaing it had not been registered on their system, even though we had the confirmation from the internet. They bent over backward to keep us happy and to find us another lodge during a fully booked week. Steve Newman from the sales team was especially helpful. They managed to get us a 2 bedroom lodge, which although not ideal, had plenty of space in our bedroom for a 3rd bed and a baby cot.
The accomodation is beautiful, spacious, well equiped and clean.
The hotel has great spa facilities, gym, pool ect, plus a very relaxed feeling bar and beautiful restuarant.
The hotel and lodges are in a fantastic setting, and although there is so much to see and do int he area, you could spend all your time in and around the grounds of the hotel.
Last year we stayed in the hotel, and we will definately be coming back here agin.

We only managed to stay 3 nights of our time share week, this year due to work commitments. But we noticed an improvement on the general up keep and maintenance of the properties as the week is not cheap! As previously we had cause for concern about the general upkeep.
Our major gripe being golfers the courses are too over booked and unless you get a VERY early tee time in the day you will be playing on average 5hour round plus...which is very tedious.
We had a bite to eat in the Claret Jug... but again for a quick sandwich we waited over 30minutes and we noticed other guests also moaning about the time they had to wait before food was served.
But on the positive the facilities are good we had fab weather and will hope to stay longer next year.

We have a week here in late November... to escape before the Xmas onslaught. It's great because the Xmas tree is not up until December - rare!
In the lodge is a Jacuzzi, sauna, dvd player and every type of luxury you could want. Oh and a golf buggy, called Barry! It is true luxury and you can use the hotel facilities too. Ours sleeps 6 and friends queue up to come with us.

We booked a three night stay in a luxury lodge for £300. This worked out cheaper than us booking to stay in the main hotel. The Lodge was a 3 bed lodge for 6 people, had three bathrooms, jacuzzi bath, sauna and was set out on 3 floors.

The lodge was fantastic, fully equipped with everything you would need. If you want a golf buggy for use during your stay, you have to pay £75, which is a little steep, considering we couldn't even use it on the golf course due to wet ground!

The only down side for us was that you had to heat the lodge with electric heaters, which we had to leave on all the time to keep it aired, and when we checked out our bill came to £46! so just beware of this before booking.

I would recommend these over the hotel if you can afford it. You still get the use of all the hotel facilities, and get a voucher for 2 for 1 in the restaurant.

We drove to Corbridge (10 mins away) and ate in a little Italian Restaurant there, which I would recommend (Il piccolo - I think).
