First time I have been in (i have worked in hexham for 4 plus years) for take out lunch. Got the meal deal, panini, drink and cake. Omg panini was filling, amazing green tea and the cake was out of this world.
The staff were lovely also.

Sitting just opposite Hexham Abbey is this charming deli and tea room. Food is always excellent and has a lovely homemade quality to it, especially the soups. I had a ham salad sandwich from the specials board menu recently and it was delicious. The tea room itself is up a flight of narrow stairs with three or four small tables in close proximity. You might think it's cramped or you might find it cosy. Either way, not the best place to indulge in any sensational gossip or romantic confessions, as you're within earshot of everybody else. Seasonal opening just started at the beginning of April. Nice views from the windows upstairs. Pity the (very pleasant) young waitresses who spend all their time running up and down the stairs carrying people's orders, must keep them super-fit. Somewhat pricey but then it's excellent quality. Highly recommended for a light lunch or snack.

The Deli at Number 4 is a downstairs deli with a cafe on the first floor.

Access - right in the centre of Hexham a short walk from the bus and rail stations with cycle parking over the road next to the Abbey. There is street parking outside and in the main Hexham car park a short walk away. You will need a parking disc but it’s free. The cafe itself is not accessible to anybody with mobility or sight issues being up a flight of stairs.

The cafe - a small room with wonderful views straight into the Abbey very cosy with comfortable seats. The menu has a range of food and treats as you would expect from a Deli and caters for vege/vegan people. There are toilets but as they are upstairs they are obviously not accessible.
The deli downstairs has a huge range of tasty treats including a massive range of artisan cheese.

Recommended as a very good cafe and excellent deli

Called in as Hexham was very busy, managed to get a seat but the stairs aren't the best for little one's or older people and found food for children a bit expensive.
