On Sunday the 24th of July we decided to go out for Sunday Lunch with the family, they were 5 of us. The Boatside serves Sunday lunch till 7.30pm, we booked for 5pm The Boatside has only recently re-opened after the December floods. The menu was extensive offering Beef,Lamb, Pork and Turkey plus a selection of other menu favourites. The old crew are still there and the atmosphere is still very relaxed and pleasant
The food was perfect and plentiful and we would recommend the Hearty platefulls
An evening menu is available throughout the week

Stayed in the B and B accommodation which is very spacious and wellappointed. Room was very clean. Good shower. Helpful and friendly staff at breakfast and dinner in the pub. Particular praise to Hannah who looked after us both evenings and really enhanced the evening. Good choice at breakfast. Good evening meals but be warned portions are large! Would stay again.

We stayed in the self catering accommodation attached to the pub. It was clean, well furnished and comfortable. There was everything we needed for our week's stay. The location was perfect for visiting Hadrian's Wall (a long held ambition) as well as other places. A bonus was the food at the pub- a varied and intersting menu with good beers to choose from.

Excellent and dog friendly accommodation. Rooms very comfortable and spacious with many thoughtful touches. Great centre for exploring local historic sights and not too far from Newcastle as well. Great breakfast and dinner.
