Description: Situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside 2 miles from Althorp House, the ancestral home of Diana, Princess of Wales. A traditional village inn with character and charm. We are a privately owned and run free house with a selection of well kept real ales and lagers plus an extensive wine list. Runners-up in the Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards 2009. A great place to spend a lunchtime or evening.

Three of us popped into this place whilst journeying up to Yorkshire. Set in a small village in rural Northamptonsihre, we found the food here to be exceptional. On the safe side we had booked in advance and arrived about 1.30 on a Friday. The place was quite busy for a Friday lunchtime in such a tiny village. The pub itself had a rustic feel about it and had some good ales on draft. We ordered our starters which consisted of a Ham HockTerrine and wild Mushrooms on Bruschetta. I asked where the mushrooms had come from and was told that some of them had been foraged by the chef and included Girolles, Cep and Portabello. All starters were presented very nicely and tased excellent. We all decided to have Duo of Pork for our main course, two of us opted for a smaller portion and the waitress was happy to oblige and reduced the bill accordingly. The pork was the star of the show and consisted of a square of belly pork together with a pork croquette, green beans wrapped in cured ham, a shard of crackling and an accompanying gravy. All washed down with a southern hemisphere lighter styled Malbec which was recommended by the waitress. We all agreed that every bit of it was delicious. So good in fact we asked if there would be any availability for lunch on our return journey the following Sunday. "We do get busy" was the reply, "but we do serve up to four O'clock. Give us a call in the morning". We were also told that the pub was in fact a family business with mum and dad, Their son who was chef and his wife which may explain why the whole place just seems to work so well. By the way we did phone on the following Sunday, the reply? "Sorry fully booked" Not surpried.

We have visited The Saracens Head lots of times over the last 5 years. The most recent being in August for my husbands birthday. The staff are always polite & helpful and the food is really good. All home cooked and a resonable price.

Have been using this pub as a starting point for walks throughout last year. Excellent countryside for walking with many routes from the pub. Landlady always happy to accommodate our cars. (Do ask before leaving though!) Lunch after the walks has always been good, with a variety of
From basic lunch time light meals up to gourmet dishes from the board or restaurant menu. Not the quickest service, but its always freshly prepared. It was no surprise they won the Northamptonshire pub award for food. Great Chef, well kept variety of beers and always a warm welcome. We will be back in 2013
