Stayed at the Hopping Hare for 4 nights to attend the British Grand Prix and booked via late rooms. When booking we asked for the disabled room, but given alternative room . The room itself was beautiful and very comfortable, however all the stairs for my husband with a spinal injury took its toll and getting a large suitcase up the stairs was also hard work. A lift for guests would be a big benefit for this hotel and more accessible rooms would be great.

The staff were friendly, I do agree that a more defined checking should be put in place more hotel guests to save confusion.

Would definately stay at this hotel again in future if the ground floor accessible room was available.

Dear Mandy,

Thank you for your review and for recommending The Hopping Hare.

I am sorry if there was some confusion over your booking. We have one disabled room on the ground floor and this should have been allocated to you as you had requested.

I really wish you had asked for help with your luggage as our staff would have been absolutely delighted to help. Normally guests are asked when checking in.

However, I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and if you are going to the Grand Prix next year please book early and request the ground floor room and please ask the Manager on duty to confirm by email. Please also discuss with Dave, General Manager and he will arrange a special treat for you.

Kind regards, David.

A surprisingly good hotel off a main road in a residential area.
Very nicely appointed. Large en suite, spacious room and comfortable bed.
Breakfast part buffet - help yourself coffee and cereal, part cooked to order, served in the restaurant area of the establishment, all very nice.
On site parking
Friendly staff.
Check in could be improved as seems to be done by bar staff, which is ok but not clear when entering as a hotel guest.
Restaurant very good

Room Tip: check in at bar

Dear Curly,

Thank you for recommending The Hopping Hare.

The Hopping Hare was formerly a manor house and I agree the fantastic building with original features and mullion windows is a great contrast to the luxurious and sophisticated interior design.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Kind regards, David.

I stay here quite often if im travelling alone, the Inn has some lovely bedrooms above the bar/restaurant and they are fine for solo travelers or small parties. The rooms are compact but well equipped and despite the location next to a housing estate the bar serves excellent quality home cooked food and has a great atmosphere, its perfect for a quiet evening or entertaining small groups of clients for lunch or dinner. If you can get a decent rate online its the best option in the area for weary travellers looking for something different from the normal hotel options.

Room Tip: Eat in the bar, the foods lovely

My husband and I where invited to this restaurant by friends that live in Duston. When we arrived we went straight to our table at 7:30 and order drinks and it was a Friday which is fish night so where given the normal menu and the special fish menu. Our friends had a voucher for half price wine if some one orders off the fish menu which was extremely good value as we ended up having 3 bottles!! Starters where delicious. We then sat chatting and drinking for a while then received our mains followed by a glass of fizzy each as an apology for our long wait!!! Because we where chatting and drinking we didn't even notice it was a really lovely gesture!! The mains where great the only comment my husband made was his portion was quite small and could of needed some side dishes to go with it, which we forgot to order also weren't prompted to. We then ordered desserts which where amazing especially the panna cotta. Whilst enjoying our puds the head chef came over to apologise again for our long wait!!! The whole experience was excellent! Would highly recommend.

I booked two rooms B & B for a business colleague and I. What a touch!
We arrived about 6pm and parked easily in their car park. Within 2 mins we had our room keys and went straight into the bar. A very modern bar with tasteful seating and restaurant area. We sat outside on a large patio on quality wicker furniture.
As well as various lagers and ciders there were 3 ales on pump all of which were fine but their own Hopping Hare Gold was best. We ordered our food while outside and the waitress gave us a call when the food was being served to a table inside. You can eat out/in, bar or restaurant.
We shared an excellent starter for 2 and then excellent main courses together with excellent service.
The rooms were perfect, spotlessly clean and en-suite of course.

We stayed overnight in Northampton at the Hopping Hare as a quick stopover before picking up a puppy the following day so it was hard to destroy our mood to be fair. Food was well presented and a pleasure to eat, the room was luxurious and clean, very nice King size bed.
Major drawback on the night was a set of revelers who were very noisy at 03.00 am and woke most of the hotel up on several occasions, The hotel could do with a night manager at weekends to avoid this, other than that it was a great stay over which I would happily repeat as I think the disruption would have been a rare occasion.

Dear Alan,

Thank you for your review and really pleased you enjoyed the food and the room.

Sorry about the noise from other guests. I can confirm this is an extremely rare occurrence but unfortunately this does happen on occasion in the very best of hotels.

I hope it won't put you off visiting us again.

Kind regards, David.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
When my family bought the Hopping Hare in 2006 our aim was to create an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, somewhere just a bit different. A place to dine, stay or meet up and relax with friends, family or colleagues. We didn't want it to be stuffy, intimidating or over the top. We set about creating luxurious rooms, a subtle, sophisticated bar with a great selection of quality drinks and a restaurant offering some of the best food to be found in Northampton. As a family owned and operated business, we set the standards on service, value for money, atmosphere and personality. No detail has been overlooked in creating a hotel, restaurant and bar in Northampton with an individual blend of 21st-century chic, high standards and a laid back friendly feel that we are sure you'll begin to notice as soon as you step inside. We've got to know some of our guests well because they come back time after time. In fact, 2010 saw the completion of an extension to the hotel to meet increased demand for accommodation from a growing clientele. My team and I would love to welcome you to stay for brunch, lunch, dinner or just a drink. Once the Hopping Hare is on your radar we guarantee you'll be back.
