Took my 2 year old grandaughter for a day out and she absolutely loved it. The adventure playground equipment suits a very large age range - the little ones loved the water play areas. The walking, running and biking facilities were great. Very impressive to see how many volunteers there were busily keeping everything completely up to scratch. A truly lovely park, with a great deal to enjoy. Food at the cafe was good quality and of better variety than often found. Reception staff extremely helpful, loos clean, only cost was for parking. Very impressed , will definitely go again !

Stanwick Lakes is great day out for a family. We have 2 girls, 15 and 5, and both enjoy going for a picnic and bike ride, or just a walk. The pathways have been maintained quite well and are suitable for even the most hesitant and wobbly cyclist using stabliisers, (my husband will get the hang of it eventually, ha ha!) there are areas of mown grass so you can have a picnic on a blanket. Although there are tables and benches dotted around the site, some are a bit rickety. There are a few rustic toys on the adventure trail including a zip line, tyre swings and, the favourite rope bridge hidden in the bushes. The river runs through the site so playing 'pooh sticks' is essential on the bridge just near the car park. The assault course is fun. Cycle and canoe hire are available on site, an ice cream van is usually there and the visitors centre has clean loos and a cafe. The main sand pit and climbing frame area are good but the water looks really terrible, all green and muddy, but plenty of kids seem paddle in it though, (not mine). The car park has been improved but can get really busy, they have marshals on busy days to make it easier. As the park is on such a large site it doesn't feel crowded with visitors even on a bank holiday. There is a diverse range of flora and fauna, lots of water birds, butterflies and quite a few gnats. There are plenty of rubbish bins dotted around and are not over flowing, dogs are allowed off the lead, but I havent seen any doggy doo left for the unsuspecting to tread in, the whole area is well maintained. Staff seem to be on hand all the time too. Parking charges vary, the average we pay is £3 but it was £5 last time. A healthy, cheap and fun day out for all ages.

We "mature" visitors first visited Stanwick Lakes during August 2012. The playground area was full of family picnics, and many people hired bikes, to explore the trails around the lakes.
Visiting again on May Bank Holiday 2013, with a pleasant day forecast, the staff used their experience to assist visitors into the parking area; very efficient.
The excellent Visitor Centre has a shop, very clean facilities, and a good cafeteria, with plenty of seating. Cycle Hire and also a small ice cream/refreshment centre are available.
And............. it's a wonderful place to study the wildlife.

We visited over the bank holiday (Monday) and when we arrived at 11.00am the car park and play areas were packed! I would uggest going at a quieter time if you can but it is a lovely setting for a play, walk or cycle. Parking is chargeable by the hour...

We had been recommended it by a friend and so we went. Our children loved the play area especially the water areas. We walked round the lakes and had a picnic on the way. We spent most of the day a thoroughly enjoyed it! The parking fee was £5 - for a whole day out! I recommend it!!
