We stopped here for dinner on Saturday having come off the M1 in search of a nice pub to eat at. Very nice Timothy Taylor Landlord on draught. But very slow service for dinner ("Matt's first night" apparently) even though there only 14 others in the dining areas. Food (steak pie, chicken New Yorker and burger) was OK, although the scampi did not quite hit the spot!

Our last minute decision to dine here was a real winner. Our inital impression was a little shakey, the small bar was busy on our arrival with the bar completly obscured by people sitting at it. We were acknowledged immediately by the barmaid but had to shout our order over the seated people. Once served we sat by a lovely roaring fire and took in the unusual decoration. Eventually we moved to the resturant where it was much quieter. Again we were acknowledged immediately and given the choice ot table. The service by two delightful gentleman was attentive but not intrusive, my request for a small change in my meal was met with a 'can do, no problem' attitude, The food came with very little delay and was delicious - the portion sizes were great - so good in fact that neither of us could manage a dessert.
It has been several years since we have been to this restaurant but we definately will be back.

Really great little pub now - very easy going and totally dedicated to making sure you are happy with your meal and any other aspect of your visit.

Visited for a triple retirement/leaving do for 13 of us and every single person enjoyed their meal very much. The chef was brilliant in coping with our diverse orders, and dietary requirements to produce lovely food.
Could not fault it and they put up brilliantly with a group of people on a "ladies night out". We had so much fun, whilst in the bar everyone was enjoying a David Bowie night. Thank you Ashleigh, Glen and especially Alyson our lovely waitress who despite being under pressure, joined in the fun.

Also visited on Mothering Sunday - fourteen of us!! Again, absolutely superb roasts and the "puddings" were to die for - especially the Blueberry cheesecake. Any waiting time was expected and allowed for with such a large table and many other diners.

You are doing brilliantly in keeping the village pub life alive and providing great food. Keep it up!!

Visited the pub last evening with my (wheelchair bound) wife and two other family members to try the new "Walk In Wednesday offer" of two meals for one. I was initially a little concerned that I would have a problem with the wheelchair as we wanted to sit in the main bar to listen to the Live Music while we dined but no problem Ashleigh, the Landlady, allowed us to reshuffle chairs and tables to accommodate the wheelchair then the evening got even better when the food arrived it was simply superb massive helping and piping hot and great live music. My wife is very ill and does not get out very often I am sure last evening did her the world of good. Thanks again Ashleigh for a great evening.
