“Good quality but overpriced”

There isn't much to recommend the location, unless one has to stop there (as I did) for business. The blank looks I got from reception when I asked them where I could go for an evening walk said it all.

There is nothing wrong with the rooms, facilities or service, but there is nothing to justify the prices charged either. We were staying at a preferential rate negotiated for the business gathering I was attending but I would have stayed elsewhere if quoted the regular prices of 100-130.- for a double.

Guest rooms are spacious enough to work in, beds are comfortable, and the standard of cleanliness is good. Bathrooms are clean but a little tired, and the toilet flush in ours didn't work properly. We did not have time to try the pool or spa.

Reception was variable - friendly at times, at other times we got the feeling we were interrupting the receptionist at something important. Be warned of late check-in times here - 15:00 is the norm. After a little begging and explaining that we need somewhere to work we thankfully were allowed to check in early, but had the impression we were very lucky there.

Food is very expensive but of good standard. The breakfast buffet is recommended - good selection catering for a wide variety of diets, and everything fresh. The restaurant and bar staff is very friendly, efficient and professional. You need to be early for dinner - We didn't get a table in the restaurant at 20:00 and had to eat in the bar, and the signature dish was already sold out.

One really annoying aspect of staying in this place is their policy of charging extra for every little convenience. Parking is expensive. WiFi is free in the lobby for 60min only, then (or if you need WiFi in your room) it becomes expensive. 7.- per movie if you want to watch something in the evening. Almost 4.- for a bottle of water.

In summary, it's nothing special but a comfortable, solid option if for some reason you need to stay in the area, and if somebody else is paying the bill. Otherwise, for this kind of money, you can have a real special stay elsewhere.

Car parking is charged at 24.00 overnight for non residents, this is greatly reduced to 5.00 for residents and complimentary for all residents at the week-end. Good points

* friendly staff who respond to your needs efficiently.

* easy to find being just off the motorway.

*large spacious rooms

*clean bathroom with good lighting and lots of mirrors

* comfortable sofa /desk


Bad points

* mould on window ledge

* dated room (old telephone/ radiator etc)

* no safe

*no mini bar

* no elevator

* no information guide (unsure of facilities and how to contact reception etc)

* No free wifi

* NO A/C

* Polyester pillow. No duck feathered pillows available.

In response to your additional comments, we have just completed the installation of Safes in all of our bedrooms along with portable fans stored in every wardrobe and new and updated information guides.We do hold a variety of pillows which can be requested at the time of booking or upon checkin which are all subject to availability. We do offer free Wifi in all of our Public Areas such as Reception and our Court Lounge Bar and we have Concierge who will assist with any luggage. I hope we can welcome you back again to the HIlton Northampton in the near future.

Super hotel for a family stop over (2 adults, 2 kids) on way to Gullivers World. Great staff, great room, great pool.

Meals - my wife had duck, i had fillet steak - both faultless. Kids meals top notch too.

Only slight niggle, one of my kids got told off for jumping into pool (i appreciate there are signs up requesting no to), but we were the only people in there. But that was litterally the only niggle.

Super hotel.

A great accessible location from the M1. This hotel has a fantastic lobby and has a nice character when you walk in.
The staff at check in greeted me as a Hhonors Gold and were very welcoming and polite.
The room was HUGE! It really was fantastic, and felt like it had been recently refurbished. The beds were sumptuous. I don't think you can beat Hilton beds.
Bathroom was very spacious and clean.

The restaurant was good, with a great breakfast offer, and a reasonable choice for dinner.

The bar was good, with engaging happy staff, and a good selection of drinks, as well as comfy sofas which made it feel more relaxed.

I would definitely use this hotel again, and thought the layout, amenities and staff were brilliant.

We were a very late booking during F1 weekend and were not expecting too much from this hotel. However, quite a pleasant experience. Good sized clean and comfortable rooms, resturant food was good and whilst the attentive service was good, the delivery out of the kitchen could have been better. Decent bar area and extensive bar menu, plus "coffee bar" in reception. Staff were generally welcoming and helpful.
I've often stayed in this "catagory" of hotel, (but not Hilton) and usually found them to be generally tired but this hotel had no signs of the normal hard wear and tear.
Would definately consider this hotel again for F1 or any other reason to be in the area.

Room Tip: We were in rooms furthest from the main road (A45) so had no issue with noise but the other side of...

I was attending a function nearby and needed a quick getaway on the M1 the next day. This was ideal for that. There was a rather noisy wedding reception in full swing when I arrived, which made me concerned that it would be noisy at night, but my ground floor room overlooked a quiet courtyard and it was fine. Everything in the lovely large room was fine as well, other than the absence of a good light and mirror by the dressing table. These are often set up as desks, but there is nowhere else where you can sit to do your hair and face. I frequenty moan about these supposedly good hotels that can't match Travel Lodges by having all these things (light, mirror, socket) together. Is it only me? But this was a most comfortable stay, topped off with a good selection for breakfast and a nice environment to eat it in, with a free paper. There was no queue at the reception and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Using the postcode, my satnav took me to a housing development nearby, but that is probably not the hotel's fault!

Room Tip: Ground floor room overlooking the quiet courtyard was very quiet - no traffic or other noise at all...

Excellent hotel with friendly helpful staff, handy for M1. We got an amazing deal on a king suite for two nights whilst we were tank driving nearby. There was a constant traffic rumble, but not annoying by any means, and there did,t appear to air con, probably not an issue given the nature of british summers :-) the cooked breakfasts were excellent. If I had to critise then there were no firm pillows readily available. Also the Hilton website tries to flog you an upgrade on your room as you book, a real con especially as we were stopping in the top room they had.

Room Tip: Check for last minute deals on the website, we got a king suite with breakfast for halfish price
