“Great food and lovely staff.”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Never eaten here before and only today as chosen restaurant was closed but so glad it was. The choice of food was excellent, good prices and when it was served we had a surprise how much there was and the presentation. The food was delicious, we had a vegetarian sharing board and the sword fish special and was so enjoyable. It was buzzing for lunchtime both inside and in the garden and the staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely eat here again. Old house on Wellingborough road take note, this pub may not have the new refurbishment but is warm, friendly, serves fabulous food and drinks and has a busy customer base to prove it.

“Top food, lovely atmosphere, great boozer...”
Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

For selection of drinks inc real ales, standard of food and value you will struggle to match the wig and pen. It also has a great atmosphere, very friendly. Have always been impressed with the staff and doormen too. Great midweek and on weekends, diverse crowd. One of Northamptons finest pubs

“Village pub atmosphere with an urban edge”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

A great place to enjoy a truly traditional pub atmosphere. Great modern British cooking, plenty of ales and international fare alongside live performances (including jazz) and plenty of banter.

“Excellent pub food”
Reviewed August 16, 2013 via mobile

Popped in to have some lunch recently. Both of us decided to have a burger. It was delicious and very aesthetically pleasing. Staff were really helpful and the service was quick. They even offered free drinks after one of the girls accidently dropped a salad on my girlfriend's lap! I'd definitely come back to try the rest of the menu. I would say iit's a tad pricy for pub food though but you do get what you pay for.
