“What a fantastic weekend!!!!”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

I will start by commenting that unlike most of the reviews on here we had an absolutely fabulous time at this hotel! My friend and I were looking for a getaway to catch up without the kids and this hotel offered all we wanted. I never believed that you could have a 5 star meal in a 3 star hotel but at this hotel you do!. The staff were friendly(with lots of smiles) from check-in, at the bar, the restaurant and even the housekeeping. I cannot commend your staff enough for making our stay not only enjoyable but it felt like they really cared about us. The room was in good condition and had all amenities that we needed, two comfy beds, flat screen tv and teas maid. Every single member of staff made us feel at home and we couldn't have asked for more. The all inclusive package that we had was fantastic value for money as the food was exceptional. The attentivness of the General Manager and Ben and Natalie was amazing. Thank-you to you all for a fabulous experience and i for one will certainly be recommending your hotel to everyone i know. it was the break away we needed and more, thank-you again x

On arrival from the housing estate it looks drab and dreary, very tired looking, 1960's style extention. You don't actually see the attractive frontage of the old house unless you walk round into the garden. Receptionist was surly, no smile or welcome. In fact she could barely look up from reading her magazine to give us information e.g what time breakfast was served? No information given on checkin, dining room opening hours etc there was very little information on the room either.
We took the stairs with our cases as the lift was very old & small. Strangely at the bottom of each stairs there were wet towels? No idea why? A tripping hazard.
The double Superior room was small and smelt a bit smokey, and damp, the smell lingered even with the single paned window open, a lot of condensation constantly on windows. The decor was a little tired, grubby marks on walls etc. Carpet needed a good hoover. The bathroom was again average size. Although allow extra time in the shower as this was very poor, hardly any pressure to rinse out the soap/shampoo from your hair. There was a sign on the door telling us to keep door shut as steam from the bathroom could 'set off' the fire alarm, there was no extraction fan in the bathroom!! It was just about warm enough and quiet. That is, until the cleaners put paid to our lay in next morning with their radio playing loudly, banging and slamming, while they cleaned, clearly ignoring the 'do not disturb' sign on our door. It was more than obvious they wanted us up and out so they can get on with their cleaning. I get up for work at 5am every day so a lay in was deserved in a room i very much paid for. They had even left their cleaning cart, outside our door which i nearly tripped over while trying to get my suitcase out. They had flung 'clean' linen on the window sill opposit our room ready for when they could get in, very unhygienic.
All in all i would not reccomend this hotel.
Breakfast was OK, dining room clean and nicely laid tables, pleasant background music. Untill four loud men arrived, came in dressed in 'workmen' style clothes, boots & flourecent yellow waistcoats, while nothing to do with the hotel, there should be at least some dress code e.g no dirty builders clothes to be worn. After all is this a restaurant or a building yard workers canteen? (The hotel does have another sign in the outer extention entrance to the rooms...stating 'muddy boots should be removed'.
Food basic, toast came out stone cold, as where the hash browns & overcooked mushrooms, however very pleasant young man and young girl serving. She apologised that some of our basic breakfast items had been left off our breakfast, the reason given was that the 'Chef' was new. Perhaps a List of the ingredients needed for a Full English in the kitchen would help
I dont think they can justify charging what they do & the pictures are very mis-leading. Photographs should be shown of the 'new' part. I booked with a last minute late deal offer, but this hotel was still not worth the £55.00 per night.

I stayed for a buisness meeting which was about 10mins down the road from here,

My double room was compact and smelt a bit smokey, the smell went with the window open,

The bathroom was clean and had everything i needed, the only problem was the leaky sky light which i reported on leaving,

The bed was comfy and clean

The tv was ok, it was attached to the wall at an odd angle so could only be watched from laying in bed which is ok if you are in bed but not when getting ready...

Food was fantastic, breakfast was brilliant, choice was fab.

The staff are all so polite and so keen to help, especially the younger lad who served my breakfast.

Im staying again tonight for another meeting tomorrow!

Room Tip: I understand that rooms in the main hotel are more spacious.

We wanted a single night near Northampton, and the Westone Manor came up with a very attractive price for two on LateRooms.com which included full breakfast.

I can confirm comments from other reviewers, namely that the location is somewhat odd, an old manor house in the middle of a (perfectly pleasant) housing estate, and you don't actually see the attractive frontage of the old house unless you walk round into the garden. Our room was in a more modern part. It was OK. The decor was a little tired, but all was serviceable, it was warm and quiet (not that there appeared to be many other people staying on this January Saturday night. The bed was comfortable. Reception was polite and friendly. There was free room wi-fi, although I did not try it.

Two minor criticisms - the sound from the (flatscreen) TV was very 'tinny', worse than the poor quality you expect anywayfrom a flatscreen TV. One of the nylon butterfly nuts holding down the toilet seat had stripped its thread, and so the seat was wobbly. That must have been obvious to anyone cleaning the room, but it had not been put right.

Breakfast was in the very pleasant dining room facing onto the garden. Service was excellent, and the food was good.

At the right price, we'd certainly go back.

42 members of my family gathered for an annual meal and I want to report that everyone who attended had nothing but praise. All thoroughly enjoyed the evening. All thought the meal was excellent value for money and we all thought the staff could not have been more helpful, more pleasent, more polite and did everything possible to make the evening an unqualified success. The food was served hot, well cooked, the vegetables were not over cooked, and all the young children were served quickly. Some family members stayed overnight and again all were totally satisfied with especial praise for the breakfast!. This is the first year after over 20 years of organising the annual ' get together ' at various locations in and around Northampton that I have not had a single word of criticism - . I would like to add a special word of thanks to Anna and to Keith who made the whole occasion so good and enjoyable for all of all ages.

Stayed for 5 nights for business in Northampton area. Reception was quick & the staff friendly. My room was opposite to the main building you have to go through a seemingly pointless corridor to enter the maze of rooms. I was on the ground floor, entered the room & it was like an oven. Radiator was on full & i couldn't comfortably turn it down, I had the window open fully every night. The radiator in the bathroom was also on full & very nearly burnt me as i went for a towel.

The room itself was basic, had a small kettle with the usual amenities of tea & coffee (Tetley's & nescafe) a flat screen tv (samsung) hanging from the wall opposite the bed. Only one bedside table which was a little frustrating at times. The bed was comfy however. Decor was dated & tired. The bathroom had a shower inside the bath which was controlled by a button on the tap, which if you wanted a bath you have to hold down for the water to come out of the taps. There was rust & damp all round the taps & the bath itself. The shower curtain was awful, something i truly hate. There were several cobwebs above the sliding door in the bathroom along with two large daddy long leg type spiders. These stayed in place during my stay, despite have my room cleaned daily.

During the night the location is very quiet & away from any main roads. You may hear the birds tweeting which can be quite pleasant. Large car park & I'd say pretty secure also.

If I was looking for somewhere to stay in Northampton in the future, this time for leisure. I wouldn't choose the Westone Manor Hotel.

Dirty rooms that stink of smoke, plus the distinctive and overpowering smell of others smoking pot in adjacent rooms, plus the fact that the radiators are on at full blast all the time with no way of turning them off and no way of opening the windows to relieve the stifling heat, plus the dirty linen, the bathroom door that doesn't close, the toilet that doesn't flush and the dreary and dingy atmosphere of the hotel in general makes for a place I never want to come to again. I would advise others to stay away.

Room Tip: Doubles seem to be better than twin.
