Our family was looking for a place for lunch. Zizzi is just across the bridge from the train station. The clean decor is what got us interest with Air Conditioning, since it was a hot day. After checking the menu we decided to try it. We were happy with the children's menu along with the regular menu. It took a little time to get our food but everyone liked the Italian food. In the future we are looking forward to going back.

This is the second time we have eaten at the York branch and sadly, our second disappointing meal.

The staff were all very good and helpful, so we had no complaints about them at all. The food, however, was not good at all.

To start we shared a flatbread and this tasted like it had been cooked earlier, but heated up in a microwave to serve, so soggy. This may not be the case, of course, but it really tasted so due to the texture.

For mains we chose the lasagne and also a penne chicken dish. The lasagne was very average, but the chicken pasta dish was awful. Rather than a sauce the pasta was pretty much sat in water, it was stuck together again like it had been in a microwave or something. We also shared a bowl of potatoes which, although tasted nice, there were hardly any for the price.

The lady who served us asked us how our meals were and when we said, was very apologetic and took the cost of the chicken pasta dish off of our bill.

We had visited this branch over a year ago and had similar problems then.

We won't be returning for a potential third disappointment. There are far better Italians in York.

Some friends of ours had bought us a ZiZi voucher for our wedding present, and whilst we don't live in York we thought it worth a visit to go up there for the day and try out the restaurant. We weren't disappointed. We had a lovely relaxing time - quite often York restaurants are crammed in and you end up waiting ages. We found the staff courteous and friendly, speedy and efficient. The food was lovely, we only had pizza/ salad and wine but it was all delicious. We liked the airy decor and clean contemporary lines at the restaurant. The tables were nicely spaced apart so that you weren't bumping elbows with your neighbours on adjacent tables. food was resonably priced and we like the fact there was a real open-fired proper pizza oven.

YUM YUM !! Next time we are in York, will definitely make our way over to Zizi again :)

Visited here on a very busy Tuesday because of the railway museum exhibition. It was quiet in zizzi's but pleasantly cool on a hot day. Waiter extremely good and not his fault that two Pinot Grigio were £14. We ordered a combo and had to have extra prawns cos they had run out of chicken. What restaurant runs out of chicken!!!!! Won't be back, much much better places to go. Shame really because building and surroundings lovely

went here as a party of 4 , food , atmosphere and drinks all great, the waitress went out of her way to help and we had a fair bit of banter with her and she played along. would recommend to others visiting York.
