Had a one night stay at this hotel as we were meeting up with relatives. We arrived an hour earlier than the check in time but this was not a problem and the staff showed us to our room, which was spotless, and a great coffee machine and selection of pods. The shower was just what we needed to refresh after travelling and a very comfortable bed. We had an evening meal in the bistro which was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The breakfast the next morning was also wonderful, again quickly served with very nice staff...would love to stay there again in the future.

I have stayed in many hotels of this chain. They have wonderful bed linen and comfy beds and the rooms tend to be relatively quiet so it is great for business travellers. The downside is the dark decor (a bit depressing in summer) and the overpriced, very poor quality food. I had lunch, dinner and breakfast during my stay. All were unremarkable and very expensive. Breakfast buffet was very limited so I opted for the cooked breakfast at a whopping £16.50 but they did not have my first choice, the smoked haddock, so I ordered a full English. It was very bad indeed - probably the worst I have had. They add service to each meal also and yet the waiting staff were extremely sullen and at most indifferent. I would stay here again but eat elsewhere, even for breakfast.

We booked a night in this hotel for a little treat for us. We upgraded to the top suite, and we enjoyed a truly decadent, luxury and romantic stay! We loved the twin roll top baths, and enjoyed the massive drench shower! The staff could not be more helpful, bringing us chilled champagne to our suite, and being incredibly helpful when we could not work out the tv! We had a gorgeous 5 course meal in the hotel, enjoying oyster and salmon, steak, chicken and the best chocolate brownie you can ever imagine! The house wine was lovely, and the staff where very quick to match what wine we should enjoy along side our different dishes.
I have to say, the bed was incredible and so very comfortable!
Only thing we could criticise was the size of the dressing gowns, my other half is over 6foot and well built.......it was a bit snug, but made no difference to our stay, and is really the smallest thing to moan about!
Perfect weekend, perfect staff, perfect food. Very well priced, and we WILL be going back!

Room Tip: We went for the top suite, it was amazing!

My wife booked Du Vin for a 50th birthday treat I was a bit dubious as I imagined it would be full of 'New Money' however we were pleasantly surprised.
We received a warm friendly check-in and were even shown to your room which was lovely but then at £314 for 2 nights in a standard room without breakfast you should be.
The room was lovely, tasteful, calming, comfortable bed, clean and compact with flatscreen tv.
What did spoil the calmness was the sheer number of ambulances that pass with sirens sounding even though the road appeared traffic free, they started before 7am both mornings and carried on well past midnight. On the Saturday morning there were 4 Ambulances before 8.15am it must drive the residents crazy living near an ambulance station.

We ate in the bistro the first night, the food was good but the wine was expensive £7 a glass for house Merlot, their shorts at the bar are even more expensive. Breakfast was very good too but it was £17 each, £17 omg good job it was my 50th, 2nd day we went to Bettys for breakfast much better value
What was good value here were the bar meals, the risotto and fish omelette was delicious.
All in all the weekend cost us just short of £500 with 2 lots of £10 for parking 'ouch' good job im not 50 every week.

We really enjoyed the stay at Hotel du Vin
The room while small was really lovely and it had the best shower ever !!!
However on the first day we chose to have lunch in the bistro from the market table. This was ok but nothing special ! It was 2.30pm by the time we got there and it was well depleted with no sign of being refreshed and only one choice of bread- white and ordinary!
It was a bit of a poor do to be honest so we chose not to eat there again .
At well over 300 pounds for a room only for two nights we left feeling nice but a bit on the expensive side !!
Service was ok but it wasn't obvious who was in charge so overall a bit disorganised !
