We booked in on York racing weekend. We booked direct rather than via an agency as they all told us it was fully booked.
We took the B&B&D deal as it was only £10 more than B&B.
Staff, bedroom, interiors and position were excellent. Dinner was not great and since York boasts so many restaurants we will next time go elsewhere for dinner. Breakfast was great though!

Hotels du Vin are special for a chain hotel. You feel like a VIP everywhere you go, just being there even. This hotel is no exception. The location is perfect for visiting the city centre or going to the races while still allowing you peace, quiet and privacy.
The rooms are top notch. High quality linens, HdV toiletries (c'mon, does anyone NOT love the gender neutral HdV scents?!) and exceptional tea/coffee facilities make your stay super enjoyable. There is even parking available behind the hotel, which is a lot to ask for from any hotel so close to the city walls.
Breakfast is, whether hot or cold, no different from the rest of your stay. The attention to detail is superb and the selection is all you could ask for.
I've stayed at this hotel three times and each time was all I could ask for.

As ever the Hotel lived up to it's reputation for service. The Hotel in York is near enough to the centre to be an easy walk from all the ammetities, but far enough away to avoid the large groups of party goers York attracts all year round.

The service at this Hotel is as good as any in the chain, and of the 5-6 hotels in the chain we've used is the best. We stayed in the Penfolds room, and we can thoroughly recommend that room, large, air conditioned and facing inward so avoids road noise.

Room Tip: All rooms in the annexe are quiet, in the main building the ones facing the side or rear will be qui...

The hotel is in a good location, with easy walking to Mickelgate and onto York city centre, and there is a decent sized car park at the rear.

The room was very good quality, clean, large, and with a free standing bath, and a proper monsoon shower - excellent!

We booked on a package with parking, room, evening meal and breakfast included (£190). Not the cheapest in York, but for an excellent quality hotel, and three course meal, good value none the less.

There were a couple of insignificant quibbles - I mention them not as a complaint but a compliment to the standard of service that they were put right immediately, without any problem, and with friendliness.

The reason I didn't award 5* was that the evening meal didn't quite live up to the standard in the rest of the hotel. Having to return some mussels as being under cooked was not great, but again the apology and resolution was good. Overall though the food was the weakest part of the experience. In future I would probably just stay in the hotel, and wander into York for an evening meal (breakfast was fine).

In summary great hotel, food a little disappointing, but would definitely recommend, and will visit again.

Room Tip: It's worth paying a little extra to get a better room

Close to the city centre, so a nice stroll takes 15 minutes. Great rooms, dinner in the restaurant and breakfast is perfect. Comfortable beds, quiet, rooms black out. Has the feel of a country hotel, great atmosphere in the bar a communal areas. Good connection to the main road / motorways.

We stayed at this hotel for my partners birthday. From the moment we got there to the moment we left we couldnt ask for anything more. There was no £10 parking charges like the other reviews said. Our room was amazing. The meal was fantastic, the breakfast was yummy and the location is perfect. We would definatly be returning for another nice romantic weekend away.

Room Tip: our room was called taittinger (as in champagne) it was on its own up some stairs through the bar ar...
