My brother, father in law and myself went to Akash last night after a family day out in York.
The decor is typical of most Indian restaurants but the staff and food were both excellent. Upon arrival we were very warmly greeted, the restaurant was very quiet though which we found a bit strange as it was 10pm on a Sunday evening.
My father in law had the chicken biryani, my brother the chicken chilli massala and I had the lamb sag and we all agreed the food was delicious.
The bill for three main courses, popadoms with pickles, two soft drinks and one pint of lager was £37.00, which was reasonable, got to say that the most disappointing thing was that the restaurant had no set meal special on a Sunday evening, which the majority of Indian restaurants we eat do. Maybe this is this restaurant was so quiet on a Sunday evening?
All in all some lovely food, great staff, ideally located 1 minute walk from the Micklegate Travelodge where we were staying, would definitely go back, especially so if they put on a Sunday night five course special.
