Easy to find in the center of York. Very good food (Duck and lamb were had). Perhaps a little expensive for what you get.

We didn't have a reservation, having decided at the last minute to go to York. We were met near the door by a very pleasant young lady who told us it wasn't a problem but warned us that a large party were expected, if we didn't mind, which we didn't.

The food was excellent. We had scallops and mushroom bruschetta for starters, both cooked to perfection and delivered quickly. Our main course consisted of the venison and the duo of beef ( a hearty suet pudding and a tournedos!) The venison and tournedos were absolutely perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth tender and deliciously seasoned. We couldn't manage a desert!

The prices are what you would expect from a good restaurant in any city or town. The atmosphere was pleasant and the clientele mixed. Despite being sat near to a large group, we did not feel that the service we received suffered in any way. Having read some other reviews of this restaurant, I wonder if the people went to the same place as we did! I would certainly dine there again.

One of the most delicious meals ever! Gravadlax salmon and crab starter exceptionally tasty; main course rack of Yorkshire lamb was cooked to perfection and the quality of the meat was superb - the other main (venison) was again fabulous quality meat and cooked superbly. Washed down with a great Malbec, very reasonably priced.
Not the cheapest meal around but worth every £ and certainly worth going out of your way to visit.

It was our wedding anniversary meal and we thought we would go somewhere a bit special and perhaps more pricey than we would normally pay for a meal out. How disappointing was our evening here! To be fair the food was very good, well presented and tasty although expensive. However, there was only one dish on the menu that each of us liked, so the choice for us wasn't great. The restaurant was also freezing cold - we were shown to a seat out the back although there was no one else in the place. The waitress forgot my husband's drink and when I reminded her she didn't apologise. The service was slow throughout the meal with long waits between courses despite the lack of diners. When a group came in later, it appeared that we were almost forgotten. Altogether a lack lustre dining experience that we will not be repeating here.

I have visited the Lime House 3 times in the past but not for several years and I was not disappointed on my return visit. The staff were attentive weight being over-bearing and the food was excellent quality. The restaurant catered well to my partners coeliac diet and we were pleasantly surprised by our bill at the end of the evening. I will be back next time I am in York.
