Description: Nestled down an alley in the center of York you’ll find Ate O’Clock restaurant. Our recently refurbished restaurant now seats 100 people, offering indoor & outdoor dining. The restaurant offers a relaxing, friendly atmosphere with courteous, efficient staff. Our menus use fresh, local produce, cooked to order, and mostly home-made. Outside allows for lunch in the sun, a pre-dinner drinks area, or after dinner coffee chill-out zone. The seating arrangements, parasols and outside heated lamps make the area comfortable all year round.

Hubby and I were visiting York today and came across this wonderful little restaurant. It's a quirky yet contemporary venue and felt cosy without looking like it was trying to. We both fancied a steak, so ordered the Yorkshire 28 day aged sirloin, 'cooked' blue to perfection, extremely tasty and melt in the mouth. We also had a bottle of Chilean cabernet sauvignon which was also very tasty and complimented the steak wonderfully. People may think the steak is overpriced at £19.50 but you get what you pay for! Service was just right - staff were attentive without hovering and the meal came in good time. We will definitely visit again next time we're in York!

Had dinner here with a friend on a Friday night. The food we both had was beautiful and the service was faultless. The published menu is rather limited but there was a large number of specials on a blackboard in the restauran which resulted in a large choice of starters and mains. I had blue cheese and pear salad to start and the venison shank with some lovely Dauphinoise potatoes for my main course. There was also a complimentary small cup of tomato soup and some very nice bread.

On a recent weekend trip to York we went searching for lunch and having failed to get into some other places recommended on TA, we entered Ate O'Clock. What a good find. It's a little place, but has a comfy area to wait for a table (which we didn't need as we were close to the 2pm lunch end time); lots of tables, quite close to each other but space is at a premium in York; very friendly staff; a nice ambience. We all four ordered different items off the specials board and we all agreed our food was very tasty, nice and warm, well presented and just the correct size for lunch. The price was good too which makes this a good value for money find also. If it was at home I'd make it a regular haunt.

Went here to celebrate my husbands birthday and it was perfect.
Service was 5 star, very attentive, polite and professional without being fussy or 'constant'. Perfectly and seamlessly managed, everything there as you needed it, never waiting. Best service I've ever experienced!
Nice extras free of charge like flavoured bread and dips and a mini tomato soup.
Food was served quickly and looked amazing! Both of our starters and mains were scrummy with amazing deep flavours.
Atmosphere was just what we like, nice background noise without impacting on conversation, tables well placed and decor spot on. Informal yet 'special' if you get what I mean.
Overall perfect place, wish we lived local!!!!
