We dropped into the Commercial on a Sunday lunchtime quite by chance. Having been before, albeit about a year ago, we were pleasantly surprised by the newly refurbished interior. The decor is tasteful, the furniture is very comfortable and the atmosphere is relaxed. The newly installed landlord/owner informed us that they had only recently taken over the pub and that this was their first Sunday lunchtime. We were a group of six, that rather awkwardly asked for dishes that weren't on the menu - this was not a problem and our order was promptly taken. Whilst waiting we ordered drinks from the bar which offers a range of real ales, ciders and a very good variety of wines. I had the Black Sheep which was excellent. Our food order was served in no time by the attentive waitress. We all commented that the food was of good quality and that we would definitely visit this pub again when we are in the area. I expect that under the current management this pub will continue to go from strength to strength.
