Stayed at Marmadukes for 2 nights in one of their four poster rooms.

From beginning to end the customer service was amazing. Emily was super organised in arranging all the surprises that my boyfriend had arranged for me. Scarlett and Laura ensured that our stay was comfortable and attended to our every need with extra consideration and thoughtfulness including the parking arrangements, housekeeping and check out, going above and beyond our expectations.

The room was absolutely beautiful and looked even better than the pictures. The bathroom was very spacious. There was a freestanding bath with a shower attachment which gave the option to either bath or shower.

The location was perfect, being only a short stroll from the main highlights of York.

Thank you again for making my birthday so special -hope you enjoyed the token of gratitude we left for you in the fridge :)

We love York, so my husband surprised me to one night stay at this hidden gem! When we arrived the on duty manager helped us take our bags to the loft suite, if you can, book this room as you have your very own sauna in the bathroom, own living room area and massive double bed! Which was very spacious and clean.

Great location, 5/10min walk to the Shambles area of York were we had a few drinks as we arrived early so our room wasn’t ready. £7 parking, which is reasonable for being right in the city and got a space straight away!

The food - wow! Even if your not staying here I would recommend to dine here - dinner or breakfast

Dinner was included in our midweek deal - which was a 7 course tasting menu, which made the stay extra special! We do love a good tasting menu and blogged it on my Instagram page - NETastyTreats

All staff made us feel welcome! Thanks, we will be back!

Our Loft Suite is amazing and certainly well worth booking for a special occasion or a treat. How Can you think of anything better than your own personal sauna?
Thank you for mentioning our lovely team here at Marmadukes, anything you need we will happily do all possible to ensure you enjoy your stay with us. We are within perfect location of the city centre, being only a 10-minute walk away.

Thank you for mentioning our restaurant The Park, who have the most exciting tasting menu you could wish for, however pre booking is essential (Please note our Restaurant opens Tuesday - Thursday).

We will look forward to welcoming you back here, please book direct to receive the best possible price.

We stayed here for a wedding September 17. Small and perfect affair. The room we had (2+1 child) was lovely with four poster bed and small camp bed and sofa. Bathroom fine. Old fashioned deep bath which filled quickly but just a hand held shower so if you like a stand up one then choose a different room.
Room for the wedding was lovely and bright and perfect for the gathering of about 40 people that we were and was transformed quickly into the Dining Room.
Reception canapes were amazing and free flowing! Good selection of bar drinks and spirits.
Wedding breakfast (meal) was fabulous. The marmite butter as a side to the bread was to die for ! (a speciality I understand). Next morning the breakfast got us all back on track.
This is a great place to have a celebration or just to stay overnight for a weekend away shopping or chilling in York as it is only a short walk to the centre. Staff are friendly and service great.
If you are a light sleeper take ear plugs as I did as there will naturally be noise as you are in a city centre.
If I was to nit pick it would be for thicker fluffier towels and a shower in the bathroom but a fantastic wedding and fantastic stay. Thank you!

Room Tip: To the rear may be quieter on a higher floor. Ask re facilities if you like a shower.

Thank you for taking the time and reviewing you stay here at Marmadukes Hotel.
All of our four poster rooms do have either a half tester or full four poster bed with the cast iron roll top baths, our deluxe double rooms and executive rooms do have free standing walk in showers.
We appreciate all feedback and will look into the quality of our towels.
We are pleased that you enjoyed the wedding day. All of the team work very hard to ensure that the bride and groom have a day to remember.
We hope to see you again in the future.
Kind Regards,
Emily Ullathorne

This is my 4th stay at Marmadukes, and it was another excellent stay. The breakfast was a superb start to the day. I was there with 2 friends and it was the ideal place for our university reunion. The quality is high and very consistent. Thans to all the staff.

Very good home type B&B, the breakfast it’s really good with healthy and local products.
The room are really Victorian age so is nice with bath but not shower and beautiful furnitures.
Haven’t elevator so it’s difficult if you have heavy luggage. The staff isn’t friendly I think in a zone you can find better options.

Thank you for your review.

I am pleased you enjoyed our breakfast with the healthy and local products.

We do try to keep our rooms decorated to the Victorian theme as to keep with the building.

Unfortunately with us been an old town house we do not have an elevator which is rather obvious when you research our hotel.

I am concerned as to what gave you the impression that the staff are not very friendly as the whole team are generally very polite and go out of their way to please and assist our guests.

Kind Regards

Adrian
