Stayed with wife for a long weekend while staying in the UK. I wanted to show her, (she is Thai) a little bit of old England. Well the Guy Fawkes most defiantly did the job..... Though I think the jury is still out with her after my explanation regarding Guy Fawkes and the whole bonfire and fireworks thing!
As for the Inn...Great location, nice ambiance, breakfast and friendly staff. The room we stayed in was on the top floor and facing the Minster, the ascent and descent to our room was interesting due to the age of the building, (the staircase leaning one way...or the other)
Our room, though small, was large enough for a two night stay, however....too make a coffee, plug in a lap top or charge a phone meant you had to unplug a bedside light, move something, climb under .... something......Or a combination of all.
Only one drip really....The bed, on one side the mattress had seen better days and was not comfortable at all. In saying this the room was clean and bedding/pillow were nice.
Food, we only had breakfast at the hotel, happy to report it was very good.
We did not use the bar, for no other reason than we were out all the time.
A good plus is the fantastic location of this Inn.
I have mixed feeling about the Guy Fawkes Inn......We enjoyed our stay very much, how much was down to the Inn and how much was down to location.....we are still not sure.
