In new hands since Jan 2014, Le Cochon Aveugle really sets a new standard for eating out in York. The genius is in the format, if I can use that word about such a welcoming and delightful restaurant. Six courses for £30 is a great deal, meaning that you can indulge in many different and imaginative tastes while knowing what the bottom line is going to be.
We advise on booking that we don't eat meat or foul, so the menu is tweaked for us and we have never been disappointed. Also, the 'fixed' menu changes more or less weekly, so you revisit without any chance of boredom.
This is my kind of restaurant: intimate but informal, creative menus without overworked food and a warm, professional presence front-of-house.
