“Fantastic few days”
Reviewed November 3, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

My husband & I had 3 nights at Conway Cottage from 24th Oct. We had a short ride from the station as we took the train from London & straight away I knew we were going to enjoy York as the cab driver was friendly & informative. Upon arrival we had milk, orange juice, chocolates & a cake in the fridge. The place was spotless, perfectly located & very cosy. Adrian extremely helpful on where to go & recommended places to eat etc. This was our first visit & certainly not the last. We had a fantastic stay in York & would definitely return to Conway Cottage.

We have just spent another visit to Conway Cottage for our 25th wedding anniversary. As always the accommodation is clean, modern and yet cosy. We cannot recommend this highly enough. We are back again this December for our Christmas visit to York and looking forward to staying there yet again (with the benefit of a beautiful fire).

We have just spent a long weekend in the Conway Cottage in York. The welcome was great and very friendly. The apartment is excellent and we loved the real gas fire especially on the cold nights. Very good position to central York. The owners even put up some lovely Xmas decorations. We don't normally write reviews but felt motivated to do so on this occasion. Highly recommended and we are already planning our next visit as well as passing on the details to family and friends.

“Delightful, cosy, tastefully decorated”

Conway Cottage newly opened self-catering accomodation next to Barbican House which is delightful Guest House owned by Anne & Adrian. We usually stay in the Guest House, it's our favouite place to stay when visiting York. We were staying for 3 nights so decided to give Conway Cottage a try. Tastefully decorated to very high standard.
Large bedroom with king-size, extremely comfortable bed. Cosy lounge with living flame fire, large screen TV & comfy sofa.
Well equiped kitchen with everthing you need to cook meal. Not as though I cooked but I did prepare toast for breakfast! As it's self-catering Anne & Adrian's great breakfasts at Barbican House are not included.
Thanks Anne & Adrian. Hope to see you again soon.

“Could not have been a better experience”

My partner (Croatian) and I (Australian) stayed at Conway Cottage for 5 nights. The apartment was just beautiful. The building is right next door to Barbican House b&b and is managed by the same operators who were lovely and very pleasant to deal with. They certainly did a great job renovating the space in to a self-contained apartment. I read the review for this apartment on Guestlink and I was shocked by the remarks from the previous guest. Why would one want a t.v. in the bedroom when there is one just a few metres away in the beautiful lounge room? People generally like to get out and see the sights of York rather than sit in bed and watch t.v. Why would she need a dishwasher in a two person apartment? I had no problem with the shower as the previous guest claims to (and I too have long hair) I was really impressed with the little touches such as the roses, chocolates, wine and there was even milk, juice, mineral water and a traditional Yorkshire cake in the fridge (no, it's not a mini-bar, it's included as a welcome package to guests). The furnishings were even beyond anything I've seen in a 5* hotel, just beautiful. The location is great, just metres from the city wall and all of the history inside. Close to Waitrose, Tesco and Morrison's for stocking the fridge. This apartment is perfect.

Liked best: "little extras" that were really thoughtful, such as roses, chocolates, milk, juice and cake.
Liked least: Should have stayed longer!

Can't praise this self-catering flat enough. Beautifully decorated and fitted out with top quality amenities, warm and cosy, just 5 minutes walk into the city centre. A great base for exploring York, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent value for money.
