Description: Family owned and run cafe, with amazing Minster and City Walls views. Serving fresh, home-made food, daily and cooked to order. Including a wide range of Vegetarian and Vegan savoury and sweet, including Vegan Cream Tea. Probably the best scones in Yorkshire!

This café/tea room does soup and lunches as well as tea, coffee and cakes. The food is good but the cappuccino is very weak. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is folksy with all sorts of handmade-looking stuff for sale around the room. Upstairs they run a variety of handicraft classes, some that include lunch. It's slightly outside the main tourist area.

We visited this fabulous little cafe on the Tuesday of a midweek break in York. It made such an impression that we had to go back again on the Friday before we came home.

Extremely friendly with excellent food.

The lemon slice - if it's available, have it. I did. Then I had another.
The potato, leek and cheese pie - had to wait five minutes for it to finish cooking. Can't get fresher than that.

My mum and me had coffee and 'just out of the oven' scones with homemade raspberry jam and cream - delicious. We were lucky enough to go on a sunny day and so could sit outside in the small courtyard garden at the back.
My husband can also highly recommend the lemon slice that I took home for him!
The cafe has a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere with a real vintage feel and also has a lovely haberdashery upstairs.
Definitely worth a visit

Just lovely. Went with my mum and sister. Had lunch, very nice and a bit different. Lovely soup. Then went back later for tea and a lemon slice which is a little bit of heaven. Been back a few times for the lemon slice, highly addictive. Gorgeous haberdashery upstairs and lovely crafted gifts and desireables downstairs. As i say perfection.
