A very pleasant surprise as we arrived at The Bothy B&B.
Beautiful house and gardens. First class room, facilities, and breakfast.
Our two night stay will be remembered with affection.
Thank you Susan for your hospitality.
The Bothy is 1st on our list, the next time we're
in the area.

Words alone cannot truly describe this extremely welcoming family run bed and breakfast. The beautiful serene surroundings coupled with the first class hospitality makes it quite simply one of the finest accommodation any where in the UK!.

Thanks to Susan for making this a memorable sojourn!

We stayed here for one night and were very impressed. Lovely room in beautiful grounds. The hosts were fantastic. We thought the breakfast was brilliant. We'd definitely stay here again. We were visiting York and it was quite a drive but well worth it.

If you live in the city and wish to have a look at the country living. This is an excellent opportunity. The room is spacious and claen. It also has a good view of the farm and countryside. The time when I was there, it was in Jun 2013. In the early morning, the peaceful walk around the farm area was superb. In the evening, I enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard, read my favourate e-book and have a cup of coffee. it was really relaxing.
The service from Sue was excellent. We had a great breakfast. The location is not bad. The walk to the city centre is about 20 minutes.

Room Tip: From memory, there were two rooms. The one we were in, one side was looking at the courtyard and the...

The Bothy is the best accommodation I've ever stayed in in the UK. The room was gorgeous, bigger and better than it looked in the pics, and spotlessly clean. Personal touches, such as the fruit bowl and fresh milk in the room, also made it special. The owner was also friendly and approachable and was on hand to recommend good local restaurants etc. We would definitely consider staying again.

My husband and I stayed their for 4 nights15th-18th July.Yes the place was a bit out in the sticks, but as i had been feeling unwell this was just what the doctor ordered. The place was stunning and in beautiful quiet gardens. We were shown to our garden room by the owner Sue who was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We had our own entrance so did not have to go through the house which was lovely and no other guests were there but ourselves so we had total privacy. The bedroom was very spacious with a lovely comfy bed and pillows.A lovely ensuite with walk in shower. The hospitality tray was lovely.tea coffe hot chocolate ,a bowl of fruit and lovely cookies in a jar.We were also given fresh milk every day when we came bk in.Breakfast was lovely taken in the beautiful orangery.tea, coffee, cereal, fresh fruit, orange juice, yoghurts, toast and anything cooked was ordered the night before. We were also greeted every day by Poppy their gorgeous and extremely well behaved jack russell .Sue was a mind of information and advised us on all the best places to visit.their are numerous beautiful villages in the area and Castle Howard is a must.Their are a few pubs in driving distance but none nearby to walk to.Luckily the weather was on our side and their was a small bistro metal table and chairs outside our garden room to sit and have a coffe..what would have been would have been somethinga bit more comfy say a couple of deckchairs or padded chairs. But all in all a fantastic few days away to a beautiful place.THANKs again Sue.

This was a fantastic find. A very warm welcome from our host started our stay. This location is a property within a beautiful walled garden with views across the area. The cooked breakfast was a delight cooked at a time to suit us depending on our plans for the day. There was also fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt and toast. A hearty start to any day out. On our return to the property fresh milk arrived for teas etc no matter what time we got back. The hospitality tray was always stocked with biscuits and fresh fruit. Bathroom facilities were excellent, very clean and an abundance of towels, large walk in shower plus a bath if required. I did see an umbrella in the room for the very short walk from the room to the orangery in case of rain. There was ample parking and suggestions for days out available. To sum up, what more could one want from a B&B.
