Stayed for 1 night on 16th feb in a twin room. Hotel was very clean and very well organised. Nice little touches. Breakfast was very good and fresh. It is a good 20 minute walk into the centre of York - we got a taxi home from the restaurant! Would recommend.

This guest house is in a very good location 15minute walk to the centre of york. We stayed in room 4, we were expecting a twin room as this was all that was available, however we were not expecting room to be sooooo small. I informed staff who indicated they would move us to a bigger room the following day, this did not occur. We were dissapointed that our concern was not rectified as stated. On a positive the room was very clean and the breakfast was superb.

Room Tip: Advise not to book twin room

Brilliant, very very clean, all mod cons within a building so beautifully decorated and maintained to the highest of standards. We were in the Mediteranean suite which was fantastic, tea, coffee biscuits and sweets in our room, incredibley spacious with views of the exstensive gardens. Really good location, only ten mins walk from train station fifteen to city centre. Would book again no hestiation and will recommend to all, very reasonable rates, food perfect, thanks Marco and Deborah.

Room Tip: Spoke to other guests not one concern about any of the rooms.

What a beautiful B&B. We arrived at 2.40pm to receive an extremely warm welcome from Marco, the owner. He was very helpful in suggesting restaurants for our evening meal. Marco even went to the trouble of booking us in at one of the recommended restaurants. We walked into York town centre which took 20 minutes but is a straight run from bishops. The views from the breakfast room are beautiful, overlooking the extensive garden. Our room, the Venetian Suite, was fully equipped with all the toiletries you would need for your stay. Plenty of choice for refreshments. The room was lovely & warm while it was -7 degrees outside. The breakfast had lots of variety to choose from & Deborah, Marco's wife, was a lovely hostess. We were allowed to leave our car on Bishops car park even after we had checked out so we could head into York centre again. I would recommend Bishops to anyone looking for any kind of break whether it be a romantic, family, luxurious or shopping break. We will definitely be staying there again this year.

Room Tip: The Venetian Suite is up on the 1st floor with the view of the main road. Therefore you do not hear...

We originally booked for four nights in a charming room, and were moved to a bigger room when one became available and extended our visit for a few more nights. Tea, coffee, biscuits and sweets in the room on arrival and topped up each day. Very friendly, very clean and excellent personal service. Toiletries provided were refilled when used. The cooked breakfast was filling and tasty, with a huge choice of extras, eg cereal, fruit etc. The Owners were friendly welcoming and helpful. Location was great as it was only a fifteen minute walk to the Old Town.
There was also parking available on the premises.
Unfortunately we picked a race weekend to visit and York was extra crowded with people.
We would return and I have already recommended the Guesthouse to friends and family.

Very easy to find, friendly and helpful receptionist, smooth check in, free upgrade to suite. We were in room 5 large double room, all toiletries provided including toothpaste, shampoo and soap etc, tea/coffee/hot chocolate in room. Re prev reviews, yes the B&B is next to a busy road but you cannot hear the traffic with the window closed. Very comfy bed, strong hot shower, clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast is buffet which includes cereals, yoghurt, fruit salad and juice, followed by menu choice of either full english, vegetarian or continental breakfast with tea/coffee. There is no bar here but beers are provided in the lounge area and you help yourself and sign the book to confirm you have taken a bottle (very trusting). No problems at all parking plenty of spaces on the front drive, we were told we could leave our car in the car park all day the day we checked out too but were too tired to walk back into York! The B&B is 10-15 walk to the centre, right out of the building walk down Holgate Rd and left into Blossom Road which becomes Micklegate which is the walled/gated entrance to the city centre (one of them). I would stay here again very impressed with the whole experience. 10 out of 10.
