“grandparents & grandchildren on tour”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

We had a two night break in york with our two young grandchildren so being close to the city centure and facilities were important to us, the staff at the hotel were great & very helpful. Our evening meal at the Long Boat on the Friday night was very satisfying. However on the Saturday this was a different story we had to wait 45 minutes or more for our main course luckily the waiter Kein came to the rescue with an activity book and crayons for the little ones, he also kept us informed of what was happening due to the high volume of customers, ( which is good to see) so we remain happy customers.

Stayed here overnight before a wedding in York. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean and we had a quiet nights sleep.

We had the all you can eat breakfast at the Blossom St. South restaurant, and all the food was lovely and fresh with plenty to choose from. The staff here were also very good.

After checking out the hotel staff looked after our bags for the day and upon return let us quickly get changed in an available hotel room.

Myself and Husband stayed at this hotel on 3rd and 4th August. Rooms clean tidy and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. Pay and display Car park available on site, limited spaces. Would go back to this hotel again.

Room Tip: We stayed towards the back of hotel, so no noise from cars or people.

The service in terms of the cleanliness of the room, reception staff and in the restaurant was outstanding. I have stayed at a number of premier inns as well as other chains and I feel this was the best one yet. Room was the right size and despite overlooking the main road as it was in the older part of the establishment, was quiet because of the good secondary double glazing and the added air con was superb. The location of the hotel was also excellent, all of York literally on the doorstep. Superb breakfast to.

Just a 5 min walk from the train station, not far enough for a taxi. A short stride from the city wall, so in a reasonable spot. Welcoming staff, quick check in. As we were going out for the evening and in a rush, it was helpful that we were allowed to order from the restaurant and bring it out, wrapped in foil, to our room for our teenage daughter! The room was clean and modern, free view on the telly. Almost home from home. Comfy beds and a good nights sleep in a quiet room. The breakfast the next morning was excellent, help yourself, well cooked and tasty. Free for under 15's. The staff in the restaurant were very nice too. Our only gripe was the check out, we'd left our bags in the room whilst we visited friends after breakfast, we found ourselves locked out of the room at 11.50, check out being 12 noon, so had to find someone with a key to let us in. We still had three hours before our train, so left our bags at the secure room in the hotel which was very handy. However, when we came back to pick them up (on the last minute!) we had to push in a queue to get them out of the locked room, as there was only one person on the desk. We shouldn't complain though as the lady who helped us,again, was lovely.
We would definitely recommend this as a good place to stay in York if on a budget.

We had 3 rooms all situated together, ate in the attached restaurant but left very early without breakfast. We had 2 family rooms & had planets of space for 4 in the room. An ideal location for exploring the city, we had a good walk round then returned via the city walls which have an exit 100yds from the hotel. We were joined in the evening by another party member who arrived by train which was a very short walk from our hotel - couldn't have been more perfect. The staff were more than willing to help in anyway including helping me sort out a child with a cut on her arm. Would recommend & thinking of returning for a Christmas shopping expedition later in the year.

Excellent service from ALL members of staff encountered, nothing was too much trouble.
The room was spacious, air conditioned, super comfy beds & we all slept well.
The breakfast was hot, well cooked, plenty of choice.
The only bad thing I would have to say was the bathroom,a tad smelly, maybe wash the shower curtains a bit more?
To summerise,a great place to stay, clean, efficient, centrally located,no hassles, great service. Will not hesitate in returning.
