Description: Welcome to The Chequers, Bilton-in-Ainsty. Located on the outskirts of York and a short drive from Harrogate and Leeds we are a country pub with accommodation. With rolling hills on one side of the pub and a chocolate box village on the other, you're nestled in the perfect location to enjoy a tipple, dine in our restaurant or stay the night in one of our three letting rooms. With a roaring log burner in the winter and a beer garden overlooking rolling hills in the summer we are truly a pub for all seasons. Offering traditional 'pub grub' served to a high quality along with dishes with a more contemporary twist we make sure our customer service matches the high standard of the food. Serving a from a lunch menu in the day with some lighter bites we move to an evening menu from 5pm onwards. Sundays at The Chequers offers you a traditional Sunday lunch from midday till 8pm.

Been here for Sunday lunch several times and have never been disappointed. Went on Friday night and had sea bass fillet dish, awesome. As we're all the dishes.(apart from my wife's duck that she wasn't keen on but was well cooked). See you next Sunday!

Simple really, food very good, log fires in winter, great staff with the bar staff even coming to your table to ask if you want another drink so no need to go to the bar while you eat. Well worth the trip for that proper village pub experience.

My husband and I recently had a meal here. The food was absolutely excellent, could not fault it, although the service could have been a bit better. We felt very rushed, so after the meal took our drinks into the bar area as we presumed someone was waiting for our table, although we were there for a good half hour, the table was still empty when we left. Also we weren't told about the specials board and didn't see it until after we'd eaten. We would come back again though as the food was so good.

We booked this on the strength of reviews on Tripadvisor and although not disappointed overall we did feel the rooms were much smaller that the web site suggested so be aware of very small rooms and ensuites. We have no argument about the meals - they were fantastic - the ribeye in particular was lovely. Overall very good.

We visited this pub one evening, as we noticed the sign while passing on the main road from York to Wetherby. What a great find. The food was fantastic - large portions - my husband was over the moon with his fish and chips and I had one of the home-made pies. The pastry was wonderful, some of the best I have ever tasted. Good service too. We had a new waitress the night we visited, but she delivered such wonderful and attentive service; we were very impressed. It's a lovely country pub too, very unpretentious. I would highly recommend it. Reasonably priced too.
