Description: Welcome to The Chequers, Bilton-in-Ainsty. Located on the outskirts of York and a short drive from Harrogate and Leeds we are a country pub with accommodation. With rolling hills on one side of the pub and a chocolate box village on the other, you're nestled in the perfect location to enjoy a tipple, dine in our restaurant or stay the night in one of our three letting rooms. With a roaring log burner in the winter and a beer garden overlooking rolling hills in the summer we are truly a pub for all seasons. Offering traditional 'pub grub' served to a high quality along with dishes with a more contemporary twist we make sure our customer service matches the high standard of the food. Serving a from a lunch menu in the day with some lighter bites we move to an evening menu from 5pm onwards. Sundays at The Chequers offers you a traditional Sunday lunch from midday till 8pm.

excellent pub/restaurant between York & Wetherby on B1224, well signed. Superb food, beautifully cooked, we both had rump steak etc. The best! I had Ginger & Redcurrant cheesecaske to follow - divine. My husband had Rhubarb Creme Brulee - to die for. Not a 'Brakes' pud in sight. Delightful friendly staff and surroundings, do book, it's that good it should be full every night.

I've been 3 times now for an afternoon tea.

Fresh, home cooked food. Great Value. Lovely surroundings.

Huge pot of tea with about 5 different teas to chose from.

A scone with jam and clotted cream

A selection of about 6 different mini deserts like meringue, treacle tart, lemon cake, shortbread etc.

Log fire

Friendly staff

Polker nights, film nights, quiz nights - a great pub.

Evening meals smelled delicious but i was too full from my afternoon tea to eat any more.

The atmosphere and sevice was exceptional, the food was out of this world. Although a little expensive when you look a menu, when you get the food you realise the prices are very reasonable when you look at the quality and the amount you get.
Excellent selection of beers, ciders and wines for a village restaurant/pub.

I took my family here for lunch mid- week. The car park was almost full and inside we were fortunate enough to get the last table. My farther in-law had the steak pie which he said was delicious, I had sausage and mash which was very tasty and the rest of the table had fish and chips. Every one commented on how nice the food was. The portions were quite big so there was no room for dessert. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely return in the near future.
