Visited this fantastic deli/restaurant for the first time today with a friend.
Living in York, I had heard of it but never been.
Well, what a find! It was absolutely amazing. A great choice on the menu of really unusual combinations that work really well together. We opted for one portion of the Thai Salmon & Prawn Fishcakes and one portion of Butternut squash, spinach & feta Filo tart, accompanied by 3 delicious side salads. We shared the 2 main courses and both were Devine! All washed down with a glass of well chilled complimentary wine (we had a voucher).
All in all a very pleasant lunch and it certainly won't be our last visit!
The staff were very friendly & knowledgable.
Many thanks

Tried this place for lunch today. Place is quite small - probably 3 or 4 tables downstairs and a further 9 or 10 upstairs - and simply furnished, but comfortable. I had parsnip and smoked bacon cakes and my husband had chorizo and bean tagine. Both dishes came with 2 (selected from a choice of 3) salad side dishes. The food was delicious and I particularly enjoyed the side salads which were light, refreshing, colourful and tasty. Our 2 main courses plus 2 coffees came to just short of £27. Not the cheapest light lunch in town, but certainly tasty and different and we will definitely visit again.

First visit. When we went in, the downstairs dining area seemed a bit cramped, but there is plenty of room upstairs. The food is varied, tasty, and freshly prepared. The portions are excellent and the service very good. The cakes are excellent, and the take out service very useful. Altogether A1+

We regularly visit this restaurant when in York and are always pleased with the food quality, freshness and originality. Everything is prepared to order and in front of customers. A special mention for the cakes which are all yummy! The shabby chic atmosphere is very welcoming and we could stay there chatting for hours. A downside is that there is not enough space and we have often been disappointed when told that there was no table available. We will be back, if there is room!
