Today I took the time to have a delicious breakfast at the delightful Filmore and Union. My jasmine tea came out with that particular "wow factor" that you expect but never achieve, with an ever expanding Jasmine flower in a see-through tea pot. Not just aesthetically pleasing but delicious too.
Breakfast consisted of toasted rye bread with humous, spinach, tomato, mushrooms and pesto topped with a perfectly cooked, runny poached egg. WOW! Where anywhere do you get a breakfast option like that...and as I say, that's just one option. The rest of the menu also looks fabulous and enticing, with no mention of the run-of-the-mill, ever too common bacon, eggs and beans.
The excitement doesn't just stop there either, after taking a sneaky peak at the brand new (literally today, I'm told) lunch menu, the head chef doesn't cease his innovative and creative flare at 11am. With a wide selection of different world cuisines from Thai to tagine, exceptionally sounding vegetarian dishes and warming pies and soups. This 'cafe' has reached the top, putting Starbucks and all those other repetitive chains to shame, even delightful Betty's of York need to keep a close eye on this one.
For now...I'm not even going to look at the cake menu, from my seat I can see the excellent variety and freshness and quality of cakes. Definitely taking one home for later me thinks.
Staff are friendly, attentive and bright. You can see how much they care about their place of work and deliver excellence in every form. Well done to everyone at Filmore and Union. Keep up the brilliance.
