“We had a wonderful stay, loved it our son was in love with the railway museum which was just 3 minutes away!”
Reviewed January 13, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We loved our stay at Mallard flat, and it was close to everything. We walked to the city centre, and came back home in the evening to a warm and very comfortable flat. Everything was clean and Chris was excellent in welcoming us in and showing us everything. We will definitely repeat the holiday in 2 years when we travel next to the UK. Our son loved the Railway museum and the Jorvick museum and dig.
Recommend the apartment to families as a great spot.

“Great Location”
Reviewed January 9, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Returning to York after 3 years in Melbourne, Still our home town with rented property. Where would we stay? The Mallard was ideal situated perfectly for two teenagers to see their friends, us to visit friends and family.
Chris met us at the Apartment with fresh goods, great start, after a trip up from Cardiff after a wedding. The kids shared the twin bedroom, not a problem.
our double room was a little small to what we are used to, but its only a base to explore the still Fab City of York and its surrounding areas.
On Christmas Eve we bought a few pressies to put under the tree Chris has supplied a lovely idea Thank You for that. We had forgot sellotape, The Mallard had a roll of sellotape!
The Mallard is fully equipped with everything. The washing machine with dryer was perfect, we did not bring a lot from Melbourne.
Stayed for 2 weeks. Quiet, warm, 10 mins walk from the City, Railway Station just around the corner. parking space if you are driving.
York is still a great place we miss its history. The Masons Arms on Feasegate still has great food. The White Swan on Bishopthorpe Road still has a great pint!

“Great Apartment within walking duistance of City Attractions”
Reviewed November 16, 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Excellent accommodation. Felt like home from home rather than a rental property. Quiet, exceptionally clean and well looked after. Nice to have some of the essentials for cooking and washing up!! So many rental places are cleaned out by the cleaning staff so to have washing up liquid, oil, jams etc although we bought our own as used to having nothing was a major plus. Chris who looks after property was lovely and could not have been more helpful. Having access to WiFi and a computer was a big bonus.

“Excellent apartment with good access to York”
Reviewed November 8, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Very spacious and comfortable two-bedroom flat with full kitchen facilities and very helpful staff headed by Chris. It is only a five-minute walk to the National Railway Museum and a 20 minutes walk to York city center. We much appreciated the fully stocked larder upon our arrival with bread, milk, jams, detergents, etc. "We were ready to go" with the Mallard setup when we got there. And there was a great sense of service support during our visit--for example, we called Chris to tell her that our radiant heat radiators were not turned on at the electrical main for our flat, she had a service man show up within 10 minutes. A first rate operation!

“Excellent holiday flat”
Reviewed October 31, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Chris who manages the property for the owner met us as arranged to hand over the keys, and show us around the flat. She was friendly & very helpful. The flat was warm & cosy and there were all kinds of supplies ready for us.e.g. fresh milk & butter in the fridge; teabags, coffee, toilet rolls, clingfilm etc etc...all those things that are essential to self-catering but tricky to bring with you. She also provided the parking permit which allowed us to park in an allocated space for the duration of our stay.
All of the flat's facilities were clean and modern. The kitchen was fully equipped - it was very useful to have a dishwasher, & we soon got the hang of the oven. We used the DVD player/TV each evening to watch DVDs we'd brought with us. Wi-fi access was really easy too, with the use of a computer if you don't have your own i-pad etc.
We liked the location very much: the flat was a 10 minute walk to Lendel Bridge (even closer to the National Railway Museum) - we particularly enjoyed using the short-cut path along the river that Chris recommended to us - and then a short stroll to all of the city centre attractions. The area was very quiet & there were no sounds from the flat above.
All in all a brilliant place to spend a few days, and at a very reasonable price.

“Nice Accomodation in a Great Location”
Reviewed October 14, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

This pictures don't do this place justice. It is very contemporary and nicely appointed. My husband, sister and I were visiting York while doing some "roots" research about our family. With three of us, it was especially nice to have two bathrooms. Chris greeted us when we arrived and went way beyond our expectations in helping us find a power converter to replace the one we brought that quit working. It is easy to walk into town to enjoy all the sights and convenient to the train station. We would highly recommend this flat for a York visit.

“Home away from home in York”
Reviewed October 5, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We just spent 3 very enjoyable days here while exploring York and immediately felt at home. Chris the caretaker was there to meet us with the keys and explain everything. Communication before and during the rental was excellent and the security deposit was was quickly reimbursed at the end of our stay. The flat is very clean throughout and is in an excellent and quiet location. It was also on the ground floor which was important for us. It is just a minute's walk from the National Railway Museum and a pleasant 15 minute walk to the main tourist shopping area. There was free Wi Fi in the apartment as well as a pc if needed. The owner has thoughtfully provided so many extra touches from a dvd player to audio books to paperbacks to tourist information and maps just to name a few. Being a self catering apartment there were also plenty of condiments etc that you really don't want to have to pack or buy. I didn't want to leave and will certainly stay here again on our next trip to York. Overall staying in such a clean, modern, and inviting apartment contributed significantly to our successful York visit.
