“1st and last visit”

Just have to say that I felt we saw Poirot in an old and dated unkempt theatre.
Beware of the warm bottled beer served and greatly over priced.
I agree with a previous review about that no instruction for a safe and quick exit during an emergency was given in this theatre as we felt the approaches were perilous.

Liked having the opportunity to see Tom Paxton and Janis Ian and happy to travel 100 miles to see them at this venue.

“Great place to watch performances”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

I have been to the Grand Opera House multiple times to see various performances, mainly theater. It is in a good location in York. There are lots of rows of seats, divided into stalls, dress circle and grand circle. I have sat in all three, I'd say the stalls are best for a pantomime, but my personal favorite is probably the dress circle or the front of the grand circle. There are several easy to access exits. You can buy refreshments when you enter and there are multiple toilets if you don't mind waiting in a queue. There are also refreshments (ice creams) sold in the intervals but these are often expensive.

“Great music”

Whilst the seats in the gallery were a bit cramped, we had a great view of the Rumours of Fleetwood Mac group who we went to see.

“Concern over exit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

Obviously an old venue with multiple exits converging, modern evacuation standards are difficult. However, it was worrying that no instruction for a safe and quick exit during an emergency was given.
