We booked a table for 7pm but found ourselves at a loose end at 6.30 and so wandered in hoping we could eat earlier. The staff were lovely, they made up a new table for us and seated us immediately. Whilst we were there they turned away six groups who hadn't booked so make sure you book!
The food was excellent, service quick and the whole experience was brilliant. I had the lobster and crab tortelli, it was fabulous.

Thank Julia K

A good friend of mine says that you should judge the state of an establishment's kitchen on the state of their toilets. This is NOT good news for Prezzo York. There are only two toilets, one male and one female (upstairs at least). The ladies had no toilet roll (fairly essential) and the gents was just a big puddle of urine.

The only reason I gave one dot up above was because I couldn't give none. Utterly disappointing. Food was mediocre at best but it was by FAR over shadowed by shoddy serving and customer service.

We asked if there was a table for us (we were four adults, four children and a baby in a pushchair) and were asked if we had booked. The restaurant was virtually empty. We were asked to wait. The manager went off to check. We were given a table upstairs. When asked about the pushchair the manager said someone would help us to lift it up the stairs.
Nobody came. We lifted it ourselves.
We waited for menus.
We asked for children's menus. and waited.
children's menus arrived and had colouring parts. one of the children asked for crayons. they were told yes, the waitress would 'be right back'
Waitress arrived eventually to order drinks. Little one asked again for crayons. she said yes.
We ordered drinks and asked if we could order the children's meals at least (they were getting a bit bored and angsty - we had been seated 15 minutes by now) she went away.
Waitress came back ready to take orders for children's meals. took orders and little one asked for crayons again
Waitress came back to take our meal orders. Crayons requested AGAIN (seriously, it's not that hard)
came back with drinks. Crayons requested again (children now bored and carrying on)
Crayons arrived.
Children quiet.

food came and was mediocre but edible. children now getting tired and that's not pretty.

ordered desert. desert came but one spoon short. Waitress noticed and said she would bring one.
everyone else finished their desert and I used husband's spoon as no sign of a waitress.

When it came to paying and we were asked if everything was ok, we said not really and explained the issues. The waitress shrugged her shoulders and said 'oh well'. Not quite what I had expected.
When another waitress came over, they spoke to each other in their own language across us, smirking and gesticulating towards us and when this was questioned said 'no, we didn't just do that' in English. We clearly imagined it then.
Eventually, we asked to speak with the manager and the two waitresses stood smirking and grinning at each other. We mentioned that this wasn't altogether appropriate. The manager did not seem at all concerned that the customer service or table waiting had been shoddy at best. At this point, he said that there had been complaints that our children had been too noisy.
Beside the point really and yes they were noisy.... bored, sick of waiting and HUNGRY!!

Overall, a terrible experience and a real dampener on our day visit to a beautiful city. Note to self, don't go to Prezzo.
(and yes, it has been reported to head office but looking at the other reviews it may not come as a great surprise!!)

Popped in for a mid-week supper on spec. Been before a while ago now and while thought it was good I didn't think it was anything special.
This time I was impressed with varied and unusual dishes across the entire menu selection offered. Passed on starters but did have garlic pizza bread with caramelised red onions - lovely!. I had a main of tiger prawn and salmon risotto with Saffron rice - excellent and very delicious indeed.. Friends had VIP pizzas one with fillet steak and another with chicken & pepperoni - everyone was more than satisfied with their choices. Like the presentation of pizzas - the rectangular shape thin & crispy with interesting choice of toppings.
We will definitely return - the food was really very good. The only thing that let the overall experience down was the slow service but the team that served us was friendly and chatty.
