Food was the definition of perfect! Great portion size, quality was exceptional, the chef definitely has a passion for ensuring customers receive a more then a well cooked meal! The value for money was spot on, maybe even under priced! Customer service was by far the best we had received in a long time! The chef came out to ensure food was cooked to our liking which really added a personal touch to the meal, it's nice to know that he has a real passion for what he is doing and we weren't just a money making machine.
The setting was idilic and quaint, and made you feel right at home!
The waitresses were lovely, hard working and provided great customer service!
Would recommend this place to anyone, a family, couple, singleton or business, I think it would be hard to be displeased here!

From the outside, you could be fooled into thinking this cafe is a run of the mill shop serving tea and coffee. How wrong you'd be!

The cafe has a great outside seating area with plenty of seating, and we were lucky enough to visit on a very sunny day. The menu is quite small, but has everything you'd expect. We went for two full English breakfasts and the quality of the ingredients were very impressive.

Lovely setting, friendly service and great food.

Me and my girlfriend visit Guy and his lovely staff every now and then for breakfast, usually at a weekend.
By far the best breakfast in York, if not the rest of the country. Great fresh produce from local sources cooked to perfection. My girlfriend thinks the Rarebit is out of this world also!
Especially nice with a glass of homemade elderflower cordial sat in the garden.
Will definitely come again!

This must be one of the best kept secrets in York! Today I had lunch sitting outside in a lovely shady garden (tables inside or in the sun were available). I only popped in for a quick lunch but stayed an hour in this haven of tranquillity and shade. I drank a cold glass of white wine and shared a mixed platter with a friend. The platter had humus and smoked fish mousse, cold meats, cheese, butter, salad, fresh bread and lovely chutney. Perfect!

Tucked away just out of earshot of the main tourist area, this small-ish cafe serves up quick classy food, with a pleasant atmosphere.
I had Welsh rarebit with a vintage bottle of lemonade - that fortified me for more sightseeing, and we left the venue refreshed and calm.
Excellent little place, and slightly cheaper than some of it's neighbours, definitely a go-to place in future.
